that the saying "The way you treated your parents will come back on you ten fold through your children" to be true?
I was a terrible teenager, and already my 6 year old is putting me through the ringer. When I think about her teenage years, I honestly break into cold sweats and if I think about it too long, it about sends me into a nervous breakdown.
Do you think it's true, that the way you acted as a child comes back on you through your own children?

I really, really hope not....I've been mostly pretty good, but I drank quite often when I was underage. It'd be hell to have to go through stuff like that with a teenager when you're a parent.

I am a psychology major and I would answer your question with a definite YES! The reason I say this is because they have found that genetics plays a significant role in the way our children will behave, plus you may parent as your parents did and that way the behavior will shape as a result. Of course you have to take into consideration that your child will have both of the parents genes and also whether both your parenting styles are similar.

i dont.. now, ive been through a lot of things.. more than the most of people. so i try to make it help. i come on here to help others with the same things i went through. but what id think is that you would actually be helping ur kids, by that you would know how to avoid them being involved in the same things.. ya know what i mean?

Well, I don't know for sure becuase my oldest is only 2 1/2. But I can say I have already found myself realizing how much she is like I was at that age.
