Wife made me sit through "Marie Antoinette" last night.

A Sofia Coppola movie is like the Talking Heads description of Heaven: "A place where nothing ever happens."

well, i am sure nepotism has a lot to do with her career, but "the virgin suicides" is actually really good. i might be biased because it is my favourite book of all time. but still, good movie. i wouldn't even attempt to watch marie antoinette. ugh, the previews looked awful.

There are also actors Jason Schwartzman and Robert Schwartzman. They are cousins of Sofia Coppola because they are the sons of her aunt, Talia Shire, who herself is the younger sister of Francis Ford Coppola.

Having the last name "Coppola" makes our expectations pretty high for the director. I enjoyed the Virgin Suicides. But after watching Lost in Translation, I may be more cautious when picking her films again.

Smoofus is right in that Sofia should never have been in "Godfather 3"! She was horrible in that! She was better in "Peggy Sue got Married", though.

I liked "Virgin Suicides", but felt she didn't explore the feelings of the characters enough. More could have been done with Kathleen Turner's character, for instance.

I haven't seen "Marie Antoinette" or "Lost in Translation" because I don't care for her directorial skills.

ha, I actually liked "Marie Antoinette" and I also liked "Virgin Suicides".
She's much better behind the camera than in front of it. She pretty much single-handedly ruined the Godfather 3. She's easily one of the worst actresses in Hollywood.

In the field of movie direction, I agree. "Lost in Translation" is a good cure for insomnia. Hope you got some rest.
C. :)!!

I think that Nicholas Cage (Coppola) is worse.
