when i do try it on just on the fan does kick on but no heat

I had the same thing happen, a friend looked at it & told me
that the fuel supply valve was bad. It wasn't getting gas to
make heat, so it was blowing cold air. Part of it would
depend on if your furnace is gas or electric. You'll need to
call someone to repair it, sorry.

If the heating unit is gas, is the pilot light on? If not, don't turn it on, until you get that lit or repaired if necessary. You could fill your house with gas. If the heat unit is electric, the element could be bad.

Is the unit electric heat or gas heat?
