I'm going to purchase a gaming computer and was looking at a number of different options when I realized that this was a possible resource of information and could help me in my decision.

I'm willing to spend anywhere from 5,000 to 7,000 for this gaming PC. Since this is such a high purchase I want to make sure that I look at all possibilities. I'm not willing to build it myself, for a number of reasons, and want to make sure that it is under warranty and of course that it is of the highest quality.

I have been looking hard into the high end Dell XPS gaming computers and have been told that they are good. MY MAIN QUESTION IS, WHAT ARE SOME OTHER COMPANIES OUT THERE THAT BUILD QUALITY GAMING PCs. And any other information that you could give would be greatly appreciated.

PCMag.com rates Falcon Northwest as some of the best high end gaming machines out there. They have a 3 yr manufacturer warranty, and there are probably extended warranties at the place of purchase. They are some of the most high end machines out there, and range from $5000 to over $10,000 in price. Most of them are awarded PC Magazine editor's choices. If you are looking for something toward the bottom of your price range, try Alienware or Velocity Micro.

All I can say is you don't need spend that much. $2k-$4k or so should get you a top notch gaming PC. If your going prebuilt check out Dell and some of the others listed but get the best deal for money.

Since money is no problem, let me give you some pointers
Aim for a Q6600 quad core cpu or better.
2GB ram (4GB only if you'll be using a 64-bit OS)
8800GT SLI or 8800GTX/Ultra graphics card
A good minimum 700Watt Power supply
and then you'll have a awesome gaming PC.

Don't go for 8500GT

Have you checked out Alienware Computers. They have been building high end gaming computers for years. Very good machines.

But any "good" mother board with at least a 1066 meg front side buss, and a pair of "SLI" compatible PCIe slots, and a good video card will do the job.

My system is a Gigabyte N650sli board, 2 gigs of PC2-6400 ram, and a Nvidia 8500 vid card with a half a gif of PC3 memory on borad. I haven't found a game this system won't handle.
