Wow, great question. The typical republican mind set is one that craves control. It fears change. They typically grow up in strict households with demanding father figures in their lives. They worship an authoritarian god. They *need* to believe in an authority and the military with it's ranking system is the perfect authoritative institution. It is almost a sacred thing to them because for many of them the military represents god's power and will on earth. And there you have the marriage of Christian conservatism and the American military as being a symbol of god's police force in a corrupt world.

Nobody has ever said the Military can do no wrong. You are incorrect in your accusal. As far as a Military Machine, we are second to none. But its still a government program and so we are very well aware of how inept government run programs are.

Yeah exactly. And Republicans also believe that you can never have enough money for the military. They will cut funding to everything else BUT the military.
So after they cut enough funding, what will there be left for the military to protect ? The Republicans can't even understand that question.

They don't think Bush is inept!

The funny thing is... they go and get a whole big group of people to try to dismantle the government from the inside out and never quite manage to figure out that that's just how politics is always played...

They are an essential part of a system that they claim to not have anything to do with.

It's denial at its finest.

I crack up laughing when I hear "smaller gov't" come squeaking out of their pinched lips!

"No taxes and stronger security" is another one of those miraculous campaigns.

If you owned stock in a company that could sell toilet seats to the military for $20,000 a pop you would love the MIC too or get no bid gauranteed contracts at juicy profits not seen in the domestic market that would look good also.

Because the military operates by very different rules than the rest of government. What does that say about the rest of government if the military seems to work better than the rest of government? If I have to explain the military way to you, then you won't understand.

I've always thought it's because so many suffer from low educational standards but I now more believe it's because so many of them actually are borderline insane.
Split personality type of things and all that.......

I always wondered why it was considered patriotic to hate your government, minus the Executive branch.
