Does anyone one want America to go down this road?
http://www.city-journal.org/html/17_3_canadian_healthcare.html
On a subzero Winnipeg morning in 1997, I cut across the hospital emergency room to shave a few minutes off my frigid commute. Swinging open the door, I stepped into a nightmare: the ER overflowed with elderly people on stretchers, waiting for admission. Some, it turned out, had waited five days. The air stank with sweat and urine.
Patients had to wait for practically any diagnostic test or procedure, such as the man with persistent pain from a hernia operation whom we referred to a pain clinic—with a three-year wait list; or the woman needing a sleep study to diagnose what seemed like sleep apnea, who faced a two-year delay; or the woman with breast cancer who needed to wait four months for radiation therapy, when the standard of care was four weeks.
1.5 million Ontarians (or 12 percent of that province’s population) can’t find family physicians. Health officials in one Nova Scotia community actually resorted to a lottery to determine who’d get a doctor’s appointment.

You are right. The government needs to stay out of health care.
Did you know that Canadian women are being sent to the US to have babies because the Canadian system can't provide the health care they need. Is that crazy or what?

Perhaps 1 in 10,000 Canadians would trade their system for the American system. The other 9,999 would go to war to protect universal health care.
"Ten Reasons Why American Health Care Is so Bad
Of all the countries surveyed in a recent poll, Americans were the least likely to report relative satisfaction with their health care. Here are ten major ways our system is failing us."
http://www.prospect.org/cs/articles?article=ten_reasons_why_american_health_care_is_so_bad
"In an extensive ABC News/Washington Post poll, Americans by nearly a 2-1 margin, 62-33 percent, prefer a universal health insurance program over the current employer-based system."

If you have to go back 10 years for a story to back your opinion then you may want to review your thoughts
-If I want a Dr.appointment I call and can get in that day if I require it or wait 2 weeks for a yearly physical
-Canadians complain of wait times in emergency (hours not days)
- NO ONE has ever had to go to the U.S to have a baby
( unless it was a for specialized treatment not available in their area)
- 12% can not find a Dr. ---BS
Health care should be available to all
does your Police dept make a profit
does the Fire Dept
Our Doctors & Nurses are paid well but our hospitals do not make a profit

All I know is from experience in the Canadian system, I would never trade it for anything. Neo-cons are trying to make this a wedge issue, I could care less. I like cheaper drugs and free service, we pay taxes but nobody in Canada is going to be heavily in debt over a medical procedure like the USA. Our medical system is a right for all Canadians and we will never give that up. I have never had to wait as long as the list states above, that seems fictional to me. Neo-cons just spread the agenda and hope. I'll keep my health system thank you very much.

Do your homework.....
[ Our Mission: Single-Payer National Health Insurance
The U.S. spends twice as much as other industrialized nations on health care, $7,129 per capita. Yet our system performs poorly in comparison and still leaves 47 million without health coverage and millions more inadequately covered.
This is because private insurance bureaucracy and paperwork consume one-third (31 percent) of every health care dollar. Streamlining payment through a single nonprofit payer would save more than $350 billion per year, enough to provide comprehensive, high-quality coverage for all Americans. ]

An article from Manhattan is the best you got?
Well I am Canadian and it seems like all the horror stories come from the US for some odd reason. The system is not perfect and there is wait lines...bureaucracies are corrupt and thats the only reason there is some bad but no Canadian would want an American system.

Yes, and overall most Canadians are happy with their health-care system.
No candidate for President advocates socialized medicine by the way.
Turn off the TV and radio, do some reading.
Edit:
You can provide one source, the majority of Canadians are happy with the system.

Wow.. Do these people answering understand medicine?
Canada hates their medical system.
In China, a visit to the doctors means you're just going to get an IV full of penicillin and a chair to hang out on.
Africa imports doctors.
Russia has a waiting list.
So on, and so on.
Blah blah... Down with National Health Care.

No one is proposing such a system but Limbaugh, Hannity, and others who deride any change in America, even changes for the betterment of all.

Sounds like they've got a problem with bureaucracy, not the socialized part.
At least Canada doesn't turn people away and tell them to just go home and wait to die.
