Lexmark sucks-printer cartridges'll cost you a fortune and they dry out very fast.
Hp-good quality and cheap ink.

I personally don't recommend them myself for three reasons.
1. The software that comes bundled with them can be difficult to learn to use.
2. If one component fails, the whole machine has to go in for service.
3. Difficult to troubleshoot.
I have a Brother monochrome laser printer and a Canon flatbed scanner that have both worked flawlessly for 5 years, and still use the original toner cartridge.

It's a matter of personal preference. All the major electronics companies that sell items like these offer the same basic features and you just have to shop around or talk to friends and get their opinions until you find a unit that has all the features that you want with a good warranty and support from the manufacturer.

Buy an all in one that has Wireless networking built into it, will save you lot of headaches later, you can put the printer anywhere in the office or house and still function with it.
