You can buy a lead test kit from a hardware store for about $6. It contains 2 tubes which you break and swab the plates with - the swabs change color if lead is present.

Are you sure it's not your home? Homes built before 1980 often contain lead paint, and the dust is the worst part. Besides 5 mg/dL isn't bad - 10 is the cut off for poisoning. Just get rid of the toys that have been painted.

Just because some things made in China have lead in them, that does not mean everything made in China has lead in it.
If you shop at a higher end store, you'll find more tablewear that isn't made in China, like Noritake, Royal Bayreuth, Mikasa, etc.

You really can't be sure at this point. I suggest you purchase items made in a different country. Very little is actually made in the USA, but there are plenty of countries that produce SAFE items. Dishes ARE often made in the USA, in Ohio in fact. You should look online for them - the prices are better, the shipping is guaranteed, and the selection is FAR superior.
If you are looking for children's toys, I recommend Legos. They are deemed SAFE. Just make certain you keep the child's age in mind (use Duplos for younger kids, legos for older ones).

Until we send inspectors over there 24/7 or stop trade with china until they follow our standards, and stop taking their trillions of dollars loans to suppost our war, we can never be sure.

Eat it. If you don't die, it probably (but not definitely) did not contain lead.
