I havent seen the movie yet, but I do agree that fast food should be limited and it's a no-brainer that if eaten everyday, it can be bad for you. I personally only eat fast food once or twice a month or less, and that's enough for me.

I didn't want to see the movie when it came out because I also thought it was too simple, if not silly. After watching it, I started to think about the subject.
Maybe there is a lot more people that we can imagine that eat everyday junky food. The target of the movie was the McDonalds (could be any burger firma), but there is people who not only eat in a fast-food restaurant but when they eat home they also eat processed food, mainly pizzas, frozen burgers and so on. There is people who never have a fresh vegetable in years.
The result of this fast-food eating "trend", as portrayed in the film, is that you get fat and ill.
If people were as clever to eat it "once a week or less", there would not be so many obese persons. This is simple. If people don't understand it, then maybe the move is even too complex for this people.
On 2004, "Over 3000 young (age 18–30 years in 1985–86) black and white adults were followed up with repeated dietary assessment. Overall, white women consumed less fast food (average 1.3 visits to a fast-food restaurant per week) than other ethnic groups (average 2 visits per week)." (link 2)
My opinion is that Supersize Me is a call to get concious about what people eat. Not because the product was not made by McDonalds, it means it is not fast-food and won't make you fat and ill.
The film is just a documentary of what can happen when someone does what many do.

I think the point of the movie was to be provocative and make people think about what they were shoveling into their mouths.
For those who will never eat fast food again because of the movie, it's probably a good thing. What they're saying is that they aren't strong enough to go to a fast food restaurant and order a modest meal. That if they go, they'll go overboard.
You're right in the sense that fast food is okay so long as it's in moderation. As far as frequency of consumption or countermeasures to prevent obesity such as exercise, since every persons body is different, it's difficult to make a general statement that fits everyone.
Thirty years ago when I worked at Taco Bell, I think the soft drink sizes were 12, 14 and 16 ounces. Now they start at 16 ounces. If a 12-ounce can of soda has 39 grams of sugar, that's about 1/5 of a cup of sugar. Now calculate how much sugar a 32-ounce soda without ice has in it. Multiply that by twice a week and how much exercise do you have to perform to work that sugar off? Now what about the burger and fries?
So, bottom line, was the movie stupid? No, it was provocative. And since it caused this dialogue, it served it's purpose. We took from it what we wanted to.

fast food not does neccesarily mean bad food. Not all fast food is bad and not all non-fast food is good. It's actually true that some people eat the equivalent of McDonalds every meal and most are overweight. I think the idea people should get from the movie is that you really shouldn't eat things like burger, fries, ice cream EVERY meal. There are lots of healthy things that would also make you gain weight if you ate it all the time, but that does't mean you shouldn't eat it.

I think "All things in moderation" applies, and for some people high carbohydrate diets are %100 appropriate. Back in the day I was a tree-planter and I had about a 2000 calorie breakfast every morning. Sausage, home fries, french toast smothered in molasses-the works. If I ate the same thing now it would kill me, but back then I actually lost weight over the course of a tree-planting season.

I agree. It was so ridiculous....it's obvious that if you eat only fries and hamburgers for an extended period of time, you're bound to get sick. Could you imagine, though, if McDonald's decided to go 'healthy' like everyone says they want them to, and use tofu and veggies instead of fried hamburger, and wheat buns of instead of white, and bottled water instead of soda....people would be staying away from them like the plague. Then Burger King would become the new scape-goat. lol
