After all, it's his war, based on his lies. If Saddam was in power, there wouldn't be any "Al Qaeda in Iraq", "Sunni Insurgents", "Iranian-backed Shiite militias", etc.

They all exist only because of Bush.

Oh yes Saddam is great. Just like his sons had athletes tortured and killed when they didn't do well in the Olympics or international games.

I could go on and on but your mind is already made up.

We don't know how this would have eventually played out, but for certain there would be no US sevice people dead, maimed, blind and mentally mess up. I know that a lot of people still 'believe' that 'everything is improving' in Iraq, but the truth is that this 'war' may be less intense in one area of the middle and north east than another, but overall the level of violence is about the same as day one of the invasion. One of the several things that the Bush Junta failed to understand is that there actually is a 'limit to power', there are cultural differences and that there are more of them than there are of us. No matter how many 'boots on the ground' we have, they have far more 'sandles on the soil'. This is something that you simply can't explain to many people. If you try they call you a 'leftist' or a surrender monkey, or even a...God help us all...a 'liberal'! My sense of this is that unless Bush and Cheney are threatened with impeachment we'll be involved in this mess until these guys leave office. By then the dead and mained on both sides, or on all five sides as this war of attrition actually is, will be higher, the US will be far more in debt and politically and socially the US will be far deeper into the current black hole of confusion. It will take a 'Lincoln' a Washington and a Roosevelt to get us out. Believe me, 'Your flag decal won't get 'ya into heaven anymore...! The Bush Junta attempted to roll back time to a golden age that never was instead of moving forward into a real world where international co-operation is the only key to sucess.....too bad. Let's hope that the next president and congress will see reality and deal with it, or get braced for the decline of what it means to be an American!

Clearly, he's responsible for a lot. But you're in denial of reality if you think that he caused everything. Saddam was a violent and murderous person in his own right. The violence in Iraq would be different under his power, but there would still be much violence. Al Qaeda wouldn't be there, true. But the government would still be terrorizing Kurds and Shiites if they'd still been in power.

Why does everyone on both sides of this issue insist on denying reality.

no they all exist because they want to
they all express their views because they want to be heard
they exist to try to trouble us
they exist to try to break our nation apart
they exist to try to destroy us
and our nation not staying together and bashing our president isn't going to get us any further than we already are

i may not be a fan of Bush but i know what is his fault and what isn't

i'm sure there were high position individuals who didnt believe in the war but stayed silent, why dont you blame them as well? they could have prevented this by trying to sway his beliefs

we are there now, what has been done, is done
we can't change the past, but we can change the future for the better

Saddam did horrible things but at least provided the basic necessities for his people and kept stability in the region including Iran, Bush did horrible things and made everything unstable. Looking back now Saddam looks like such a better option.

I'd point the finger more at Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, they were the brains behind the operation, Bush was the public figure.

No we will never know exactly what would be happening there if we had not go in to war. One thing, he is commander of our armed forces so he is responsible for all our soldier deaths. Hope its worth it. He is also responsible for our cash costs. Hope its worth it.
