so about a month ago, i went and got the depo-provera shot. The doctor gave me the shot in my hip. She also said that while im on the shot, I would not get my period. However, she said that I might notice some spotting. I noticed that two days ago, I thought I had some spotting, but now, its like I'm on my period. This spotting came two weeks after my normal period was due. I am worried that maybe the shot isnt working, since I'm not supposed to get my period? Or does spotting include alot of irregular bleeding, not just a little?
Has this happened to anyone else?

i became into on Depo for 5 years. when I first started it, I had somewhat short classes (2 or 3 days) that have been somewhat mild. After the third shot, i finished bleeding altogether. i desperate to alter to the pill, and the 1st couple of cycles have been heavy, and the cramps have been terrible. with reference to the time i became into due for the subsequent shot (if I have been going to get it) I have been given pregnant. My husband and that i by no potential used condoms or spermicide on a similar time as i became into on the shot in the process the 5 years. I believe the shot greater so than the pill. i began on the shot back when I had my son, I even have been having mild classes that final for some days, only like till now. i've got no longer had any problems with the shot, yet that's only me.

My advice would be not to take another shot. I took one shot and it ruined my life. Go do research n you will see that depo is a horrible thing it really messes you up. I took only one shot. For 2 month i didnt had any period then I had horrible period for whole month with 2 days break between. It was painfull and pretty bad. So since then After that one shot I stoped taking it. My pd came back but its worse than even it come out alot(sorry for that description) but i have cramps and my pd 10 14 days appart. Depo almost destroyed my relationship w my bf . I had no interest in sex , I was always moody. My advice is to NOT take another one.

3 months of constant bleeding! That's what I had. It would almost go away, maybe for a day or two it would, then it would start again. After that though practically zero for the next three years. There are some other negative effects that may come with it too, like weight gain and hairloss. Not to metion it may hinder your body's ability to absorb calcium (like anything that lowers the amount of estrogen in the body) Make sure you are paying attention to your body, and that you are talking to your doctor about the side effects. Depo is definately not for everybody!!

It is likely that your shot is still doing it's job as a birth control method but you should not be having regular bleeding. Consult with the health care professional who administered the injection for their recommendation and in the mean time use a secondary form of birth control until you talk to your doctor. Depo in general works very well for most women but it may not be right for certain individuals. Talk to your doctor about alternates such as pills or IUDs which many women also have great success with.

She evidently didn't tell you that the depo can also cause bleeding the entire time or the fact that it can cause serious harm to you. DON'T GET IT AGAIN!
