First, you need one of the Instant Messenger programs which you can use a webcam with, such as Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo! Messenger.
Then, you need to purchase a webcam. The webcam comes with an installation CD. On the CD are the software program and the webcams device drivers.
Read the maual which comes with the webcam. It gives all of the instructions on how to properly install the webcam and the related software and drivers.
Once you have the webcam installed, just click on the IM programs Tools menu, or options or preferences for hooking the webcam up for use through that program. You can only have the webcam hooked for use through one IM at a time, but you can switch it back and forth as needed.
For Yahoo! Instant Messenger program, Click Messenger menu, then in the items listed select My Webcam. a Warning message will appear, read it and select OK, and/or put a check mark in the box which says "do not show me this warning again". A Video Source dialog box will appear.
In this dialog box click on the menu to select your device. The webcam widow will now appear. You can also open your webcam from your Programs menu. However, this process outlined here will hook the webcam to Yahoo! Messenger for use.
In this window click on File. Then click on Preferences. Your webcam preferences page will appear. Set whichever preferences you choose. You can always change them later anytime you choose. So, experiment on your settings.
You can choose to have your webcam broadcasting all the time, and set a message next to your name tittled, View My Webcam, which invites either only your contacts to view it anytime they please, or everyone on the web at anytime they please. You can also set up security by only allowing certain people to view your webcam and you can turn off broadcasting and only use it when you wish.
You can also change your profile at anytime to any of the profiles you have created for Messenger and any Chat rooms. You can set your webcam to allow those in chat rooms to see that you have a webcam and use it when they like.
Now, by clicking the Webcam menu you can do several things, you can pause broadcasting, or see who is watching you, set the image size, etc. Just go through the menues and see your options. By clicking on the Help menu you can get specific help for webcams.
Your uncle needs a webcam on his side too. He needs to set it up just as you do. I don't mean he needs to have the same webcam as you, only that he needs to purchase one and then contect it to the Yahoo! Messenger service, or the Windows Live Messenger service. Yahoo! and Windows Live messengers can interconnect with their contacts. So, if you have Yahoo! Messenger and your uncle has Windows Live messenger, you both can still view each others webcams. However, any other contacts must have the same type of messenger.
If your webcam only shows a black screen, you are missing a componant, and need to go to the webcam Help menu, click on Webcam Help and a browser window will open to a page with webcam help. Follow the instructions on the page to troubleshoot your issue and download the needed component.
This should get you started, if you have any further issues, just look around the Yahoo or other messenger type help for webcams. Each different type of messenger has very simular features and help systems. The process for adding a webcam may differ slightly, but they are very simular.
Good luck and I hope you and your uncle enjoy chatting with the webcams. It is so fun to see your family and friends on video, to talk almost in real time. Especially when you are in different locations and don't get to see each other in person very often. It is great to keep in touch. Someday these webcams will actually BE in real time, not have that slight delay in transmission.
*note* I personally prefer the Windows Live Messenger for my webcam because it seems to transmit better, to not have the delay that Yahoo! Messenger has. When I use Windows Live, I always have a much better experiance. However, most of my relatives and friends use Yahoo! and so I use it too.
Good luck and have a very happy holiday season.

deploy msn or yahoo messenger on your pc. The examine the help archives or in basic terms telephone somebody who chats lots. If this fails ask the neighbours to tutor you the menu/button to commence your webcam. For speaking you like a microphone or a webcamera with microphone or a headset
