It is actually a two-volume set called THE WAY THINGS WORK. Written during the Cold War when everyone was building bomb shelters in their backyards in case of Nuclear War. This book tells you how, if you survive to begin civilization again. How to make soap, tan hides, preserve foods, grow and pick plants, how to make a simple lathe, a water wheel, traps of all kinds. Basically the only book(s) you would need to survive anywhere.

It wouldn't be the bible. I've read it several times & don't think I can get any more out of it. I would want to keep the complete works of Shakespere & the Iliad & the Odessey. It would be hard to choose between those.

It's a book that my cousin put together of our family roots on mom's side of the family. It dates back to when our ancestors arrived in America in the 1600's. This book contains the names of each generation up to now and really means a lot to me.

The Far Pavilions by M.M. Kaye.

Or I might want to keep this enormous History of the World book.

Hard choice.

I'd have to pick one of my John D. McDonald books, one of the Travis McGee series. Let's see.... I'll pick "The Scarlet Ruse." It's about time to read it again.
