I used to work for AT&T so first of all get a new internet service but if you should stay call tech support as they will prolly have to replace the modem.

When a piece of hardware cannot be found during installation its either the cable connecting the modem to the pc, or the jack its plugged into on your pc is bad. Try hooking it up to a different available location on your pc OR if it's an internal modem make sure it's turned on in the system properties...

Start> Control Panel> System> Hardware tab> Device Manager> Netowrk Adapters> and be sure there is NOT a red X on the icon for your internal NIC or netowrk card if there is double click it and in properties click enable. ALSO there is a boxto check under the Powre Management tab of the properties of that internal card that says "Turn this device off to save powr" if that is checked UNCHECK IT!! it will turn your NIC off constantly to save electricity.

Check your device manager to make sure you do not have more than one NIC active.

If you have a spare ethernet cable, connect that and see if the problem remains

If all else, call 877-722-3755. You may have a defective modem and they will be able to arrange for replacement if determined so

How have you connected your computer to the modem?
You have to set up your system using a hardwire cable first.
Are you using an Ethernet cable or a USB cable?
If your using an Ethernet cable, is it the one that came with the modem or one you bought?
Because if it's one you bought, did you check that you bought a PATCH cable?. If you picked up a CROSSOVER cable, it won't work. That cable is wired to connect 2 computers together directly. It will not connect to a modem
