This is a strange question...but I just thought of it.
I have 5 children, and I am divorced. But, I am dating and hope to marry my boyfriend.
Seeing as though I am raising my 5 children by myself, that would make me a single mother.
But, since I am seeing someone, would this really make me single?

You are a single mother.
You would remain so until you marry or otherwise change your household into a two-parent household.
Even if he moves in with you that will continue, unless you establish a marriage-like (common-law) arrangement that could be legally recognized.

I raised my oldest from the time she was 4 months old until she was 10. I may have had some help from family members but I was still a single parent. There was no father involved.
You are single, no matter if you are dating someone or not. The children do not have a father married to the mother, in the same house at all times.
THATS SINGLE!!

I have 2 children...one by my curent boyfriend now of almost 5 years and i consider myself a single mother until i get married. Here a star for a great question and i just posted this question to see the responses i get!!!

First of all I salute your Greatness as you are atrue mother and your childrens are lucky to have you.
Now coming to your question you considered to be single mother as it is not any designation but,a responsibility you are carrying alone on your shoulders.
The day your boyfriend will take this responsibilty as a father of your children this tag will automatically get vanished.

you are still a single mother...you are raising your children without their father so until you actually are married again and your husband has stepped into the father role you are still a single mother...just a dating single mother.
