I have an Acer 5050-3242 laptop which has a AS5050 Motherboard DA0ZR3MB6E0 and right now a 2.0 Ghz AMD Turion 64 mobile MK-36. Now I am just wondering what I need to look at in order to find out what processor I can put in. How do I tell what processor is compatible with my computer and motherboard. I've done research on the matter but am still oblivious as to how cache and bus speed correlates with my processors compatibility to my motherboard.
Any help is appreciated.

Well the main reason why I am getting this upgrade is so I can game. I upgraded it to 2GB of RAM and am looking at a graphics card. All of that is kinda pointless is if I keep my processor at 2.0. I would like to upgrade it to 3.0 or higher but like I said I don't know how to tell what processor I can get for my laptop.

Why would you want to change a CPU in a laptop? The limiting factors with regard to speed in a laptop are the harddrive and the grafix subsystem. Putting in a faster CPU wont di much. Usually better is to get a large memory, which in most laptops is easy. If you really want to, the only CPUs which are garanteed to fit are other AMD CPUs from the turion range. They exist in speeds up about 50% faster than th eone you have. If you get one fromthe MT range it will use less power as well. But changing a CPU on a laptop seems a lot of work for very little benefit.

Your processor is an 8/10 AMD (advanced Micro-contraptions) processors are low-priced and they use a lot less battery means than Intel. Intel processors on the different hand, %. a larger punch and performance a somewhat larger FSB (the front area Bus) than AMD. AMD Turion sixty 4 X2 TL-50 is equivalent to the Intel center 2 Duo E4000 (approximate) My opinion: in case you opt for max battery existence, opt for AMD; in case you opt for means, opt for Intel

It depends on the socket type of the processor. Amd has several options. Socket 754, Socket 939, Socket 940, Socket AM2, Socket AM2+, and Socket F. It sounds like you have a socket 939 or 940. But look into that.
