Recently things have become abusive(my interpitation) and I wish to terminate my employment by him(he's an independant Farmer) I would like to have the rest of my salary when I quit him. Is he liable for that? I would like to get something on paper but that seems very unlikely.

Your verbal contract is as good as the paper it's written on.

If I had a dollar from every case like this, I'd be pretty wealthy by now. You're too late. You should have gotten it in writing when he was offering it.

You won't win. Although, technically speaking, he is required to pay you, you will not win. NEVER agree to anything verbally. GET IT IN WRITING.
