What I don't understand is why we are using mercenaries in the first place..........doing the job the military is supposed to!Because they would have to re-institute the draft!Sorry I seem to forget that no politician wants to touch that!It is better to keep sending the troops on more and longer tours of duty with less time at home!

It seems to me that financing a war on emergency funding leads to a great deal of wasteful spending. There should be some kind of budget and limits on the amount spent for the needs of the war. There are no controls on where this money is spent. Congress should be able to appropriate money to pay for weapons, for outside contractors, for specific issues instead of just being blamed for what happened to the money when it is left completely up to the Pentagon to dole it out and then claim they weren't given enough to pay for armor and safer vehicles.

Because as in Rome in it's declining days, Americans won't fight for America. And as Rome had to it hire mercenaries, so does America. History repeats, the Huns are at our doors now, America today is seeing the same thing those decedent Romans saw in their last glorious days..... The Huns massing at the gates.

Great idea but then the right wingers would whine about spending too much. It is easier to conceal what we pay mercenaries than regular military.

Do you really think that is gonna do any good? Look at Abu Ghraib. According to your assessment , we should let George Bush go over there and fight too given the amount of money he makes from being president.

Does that mean the families of slain soldiers would continuously be given money for life claiming death of husband or son as a loss of income.

Because it's a way to get money to Bushlovers. How much money do you think that Halliburton will give to the Republicans for the elections? All of stolen taxes!

The military gets paid enough. The private mercenaries are not allowed government medical, benefits, retirements, housing,, educations, bowling Ally's, golf courses, gyms, day cares, class 6 stores, etc...etc...etc... that the active duty military currently have access to. I support the contractors 100%. It's smart budgeting.

Because the purpose of the Republican Party is to steer big taxpayer bucks toward private companies so they can make huge profits. These companies in turn finance Republican campaigns, and the wheel keeps turnin'.
