When your antivirus removes an infection but it keeps coming back, that is an indication that the infection got into your system restore files, and is one of the very few times that you should (temporarily) turn off your system restore before attempting a disinfection.
1) Update your antivirus
2) Turn off system restore: http://www.pchell.com/virus/systemrestore.shtml
3) Open your hidden files to be shown:

4) Start in safe mode: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html
5) Run your antivirus and quarantine all that it finds.
Reboot and rehide those files that you unhid, and turn system restore back on.
Edit: I misread your question and believed you to have an antivirus installed. Download, update and run Avast in the manner I described above.

An Anit-Spyware program only rids a system of Spyware, not Viruses. For Viruses you need to use an Anti-Virus solution.
Also, sometimes certain Security software is not affective in proper removal of malware. Some just is junk, and usually the free ones are junk. Some people swear by these free programs, but the only free one worth a darn is Avast.
If you continue to have issues removing malware, I strongly suggest you go to a HijackThis forum and receive help from experts.
HijackThis is actually a program which finds hidden malware and can rid the system of it for good.
However, HijackThis is a very powerful tool, so don't try to delete anything until you are told to.
To locate a HijackThis forum, simply type HijackThis into your search box, and many different forums will be listed. Browse the different forums and read posts until you find one where you feel comfortable.
Each HijackThis forum has a Read First post which gets users started on the removal process. It entails the downloading of the HijackThis program, perhaps another program or two, how to run it, and then post the HijackThis log to the forum for th experts to go over and then determine what steps you need to take to clean up your system.
These groups are all vollunteers who help others for free and on their spare time.
Don't allow the entire process to overwhelm you, just take it a step at a time and soon you will have a clean system.
Here is a search page with several HijackThis forums:

Good luck and a very happy holiday season.

Most likly you have to start your anti virus software, enter the quarantine log/report, select the item in quarantine and delete it from there. No need to format anything. At me the case was when I could not remove a file that was infected by virus with the help of an antivirus and antivirus did not allow to remove it manually. It was necessary to shut down all antivirus applications and delete file manualy

May be the version you are using is an older one. Get a free download from the maker.
Or shut down your computer. Start it from a safe CD, which you are sure, has no virus and remove the virus again. If all fails. Take a backup of your data and format the entire drive.
The virus may be hidden in the partetion table. So make new partetions as well. This will surely let you get rid of the virus.

You have a few options - manually find the folder that the virus is in and delete it or, get a better anti virus software. I suggest running this scan (windows one care) it should clean the virus for you.

you need to ran the virus scan many times before the virus is completely gone. You also have to go to the recycle bin to delete it. That was what i need the last time.

Do you have the latest updates for your antivirus installed? If you do, recommend you try downloading one of the many free antivirus options available. It's possible that your current antivirus is in conflict with some of your other software (e.g. firewall) Happened to me but doing this solved the problem!
Try AVG Free, best I've found

virus and spyware do not get deleted - they get quarantined by anti-virus or anti-spyware software
if virus or spyware is back than use another anti-virus or anti-spyware software - it means it didn't do the job it was supposed to do
that is why i trust norton - never had problem with them - they are for me the best anti-virus software on the market
