you don't get the best answer, even when you know it's the best ??

Only when I've actually done a lot of research, given a factual answer and the asker gives it to someone who says "I don't know good question".Otherwise not really, I'd be disappointed a lot then.

No because the asker may not think its the best and its their opinion that counts. For instance, I asked a question about feeling poorly and what people would bring me. Most answers were very sweet and mentioned flowers and chicken soup .... I'm not a flower person to start with and soup is nice but it's gone in a few minutes.

One answerer said she would bring me a bass recorder and a glass of milk.

Other answerers would think that a bit strange and not standing a chance of the ten points but she stands the best chance at the minute. I've wanted a bass recorder since I was nine years old and saw one demonstrated in the school assembly AND milk is my favourite drink ... true when I'm off colour, it ususally curdles on my stomach. But it shows that this answerer has been taking notice of what I say.

Hello Steven,

Although it is nice to get a 'Best Answer' I don't believe Q&A Sites like YA has been set up for that. They are there to try to help those who have a genuine need for information or advice.

You are absolutely right when you say that often we consider our answers are better than the answer that received the best answer.

Personally, as long as I am happy that my answer is correct or the advice I have given is valid and of help to the person asking, I am happy that I have done all I can and any points or accolades I receive are merely a bonus.

I have no desire to become top of a points or best answer league and never will anyway. As long as I have done my best by those questions I have answered, I am happy and satisfied.

Not at all. Just makes me try harder next time.

Disappointing when you only get 1 or 2 responses though. Nearly had a '0' response yesterday.....Got saved by a couple of contacts though, so I could at least reclaim 3 points for giving a best answer.

Maybe I should get out more, lol.

No. LOL>>Sometime I choose the best answer, but it's is so hard because their are so any good ones , but you only can pick one. I always thank everyone for answering and stars if I get them.

A little bit. Especially when I put a lot of thought into it.

Remember, some people are looking for what they want to hear, not what is the "right answer".

BTW...I will be a little disappointed if you do not pick my answer as best. :)

Only if I feel I gave the best advice I can. You know when it's on a subject you know lots about, or something you can relate with?

Just because I think it's the best, doesn't mean the asker does. I almost always try to give my best.
