Why aren't THEY serving?

After hearing news, of Jenna Bush announcing her engagement, on Thanksgiving, I do not know whether to be happy, or insulted. Why? Because, like too many of us commoners, my family has PEOPLE serving in the Middle East. In wars started by Jenna's daddy, George W. Bush. If Jenna is old enough to get engaged, then WHY isn't she SERVING her country? It is well-known that her daddy is DETERMINED to go down, in history, no matter how many American lives it costs. I have to ask: IF these so-called "wars" , on "terror", and Iraq, are so "critical" to America's future, why doesn't Jenna, OR her SISTER, enlist! For that matter, WHY does NO member, of the Bush cabinet have NO SERVING family? WHY do congress-people continue to support this "president", when they have NO FAMILY SERVING? I think that EACH reader should write the White House, AND Congress, asking "WHY do you keep sending OUR family, to their deaths, while keeping YOUR OWN families safe? W-H-Y?

I think you will find different rules apply when the decider has "skin in the game", and you can't simply wish for bravery(volunteer service), and cowardice has many faces......Those with little courage find many "reasons" to hide their Non-participation , but ,I call it plain old cowardice...(other than mental/psysical disabilities,and an anal cyst,which is most likely caused by a yellow-streak dripping down ones back,ain't one....

If Jenna Bush, or any other Prsident's family member, was in the military, their unit would be targetted by any enemy they encountered. Their family status would make them targets for kidnap and blackmail or extortion. This targetting would bring unnecessary dangers to thier unit. The same applies to the families of high ranking politicians and millionairres. Chelsea Clinton, daughter of a draft dodger, and Jenna Bush, daughter of a veteran, are also female so they have no legal military obligation to serve or to register for selective service.

Well, two things here.

First, you're assuming that Jenna Bush is a person; a human being. Personally, I'm convinced that the Bush family is composed of an entirely unknown race of being.

That said, I wouldn't expect poor Jenna to serve in the military.

Secondly... I wouldn't expect Jenna to serve even if she was human, since she's apparently female, and I don't think it's right to expect females to serve in the military, although they should have the right to do so if they wish.

That said, Jenna's male fiance absolutely SHOULD be expected to serve in the military, for many of the reasons you specified, and several more.

But don't hold your breath. We all know that entire family is a disgrace to all of humanity.

Its tragic that the war was sold to the public .

I think when I heard that phrase the first time I realized that people get what they deserve .

That to end the war that that needs to happen is an entire unit of guardsmen refuse to go .

For soldiers to stand up and declare that they will not go period and it would be over .

Its the fear thats been indoctrinated into so many people that makes them a slave to government and those currently running it .

I feel as if the Law required all service age government workers who had children old enough to serve if they refused should lose their Jobs .

As they always say plenty of good jobs out here in the real world .

Chelsea still has time to get to Bosnia and Kozovo.

Some people don't belong in the military. I spent fifteen months in Iraq, and we got attacked enough without having the child of a head of state to worry about.

As for none of President Bush's family being in the military, his nephew is in the Naval reserves, so do some research before you start whining. I would imagine that's more people than the Clinton family had in the military when he sent them to Somalia, or Kosovo, or Bosnia.

I volunteer in my community and take a check out to do my section to help the troops yet I surely have not in any respect served contained in the defense force. I do fee all service individuals and their households for the sacrifices they make on a fave foundation for our lifestyle. thanks Steve and all others who've served.

No, they were born to wealthy families and were not choiced with joining the military or working low paying jobs or getting a student loan.

Its not like in 1969 when the draft was in full swing and I witnessed the body snatchers picking up kids right out of high school

Your people? Do you belong to a special tribe? You may not have noticed comrade, but we have an all volunteer force so we aren't sending nobody no place that they didn't volunteer for. Don't you dare refer to these actions as "so-called". You don't think 911 was terror related? Your relatives who have and are serving should knock some sense into you. Just because you are ignorant it does not correlate to the remainder of us. Because the kids of the political machine that make war are protected by there family money and most likely are cowards .Lets take GWB he was AWOL from Air National Guard afraid he would have to go to Viet Nam.Now the cause that GWB says we are fighting for is only important if. there kids don't have to go or even believe in the war.As we all know the cost of freedom is high,but to the rich it is bought by the less wealthy blood of our country.

That's exactly right they need to serve seeing we will be paying for their security for the rest of their lives what did they do to deserve it? Can't stand Bush and they will go down in history as the most hated family in America-like Dracula is in Romania!
