Chrissy, we've all seen bad times. Adversity is as much a part of life as getting wet is a part of swimming.
My childhood was unenviable: there was little money OR love in my house. My father was rarely around, and my mother didn't seem to like me much. My saving grace was my maternal grandparents, especially my grandmother. She was as loving as my mother was not.
I survived my childhood and have grown into a productive, loving adult. Do I still have bad times? Sure. But I choose to focus on the good things and the things I can change.
When I think back to when I was a lil' runt, I realize that in my own lil' way, I WAS showing love and appreciation. If you think back, I'm sure you'll realize the same.
Finally, be comforted knowing that your beloved mother, like my beloved grandmother, is truly in a better place. A place where she'll never again encounter bad times.

You just did my friend and she heard you.
I've had a great childhood although a little bit poor [lack of money].My parents loved us dearly,my dad was the best, and like you I wish he's around just for a special hour, but I do talk and think about him a lot.Dad died 1998.
Last year though was the worse and still is.

Since I was born I think I can easily say I've seen more bad than good! But I think I'm a better person today because of it! I never could understand people with bitterness because of things going wrong in there lives!

I'm sorry for your loss. Yes, I have been through some rough/bad times. I know what she experienced-I was a single dad for ten years with three boys.

I'm sorry for your loss. Bless your mother for working her butt off, I know mine did for me. Childhood was tough but I feel like in adulthood I'm coming alive.
