I am out in a field fencing and he calls me in to check the level in the radiator he is looking at, another time, he calls me in to check the lug nuts on the wheel he just put on his truck (1 wasn't even tightened) He is a healthy 52 yr capable person and not handicapped. I feel degraded when he does things like this. Another time, I am high on a ladder hanging tin, yes, by myself. and he hollars at me to come so I get down and see what he wants and all it is is to tell me something like "don't give the calves the alfalfa".

He has inferiority complex. He feels he will be considered as inferior if he does such works. As for your question yes it is abuse.

If he is paying you this whole time he interrupts, I don't see why you would CARE how silly his needs are. Sounds like the guy is quite lonely and feels somewhat useless now that you are on the scene and doing a great job.
Try not to look down your nose or get flustered - do what you can, and do the best you can, no matter how silly it may seem - I'm sure he means nothing negative by any of it, and remember - he is paying you.

Sounds like this dude feels that since he is paying your wages that it gives him the freedom to treat you as a slave without any regard to the things you are trying to accomplish for him. His "little tasks" for you are a way for him to feel like he is in control. He has a problem, you do too. Especially if this continues. These situations always get worse.

I think it's either he's inconsiderate or just lonely for attention. Good part is he trusts your opinion otherwise he will be the one telling you what is wrong instead of asking you to check things for him.
Abuse?... nope.

Seems to me he values your opinion on things which is why he asks you to help him out.And he just wants to be sure that his calves aren't given alfalfa.Hardly what I would call abuse.

he is showing his authority, by letting you do what he wants.
he is definitely liking it.
however, you can be professional and wag off the silly and stupid commands by saying that " i cannot, i am at work". It is possible that he might fire you. If you don't want to loose your job, then say it less frequently, but say it.

he;s the boss. This is not abuse. You may want to look for other employment if you don;t like the way he works.

umm, he's an idiot...maybe next time he calls you to come over say..."ok Mr. _______, almost finished this job, be there in 10 minutes." or maybe, "Mr. ______ it's hard to stop a job in the middle, maybe we can discuss matters in between my jobs?" Good luck
