Take for example Georgia. If Tenn. wins then they have no chance at the SEC title game. So, far LSU and AZ St have lost. LSU still may rank ahead of Georgia but lets say they dont. Lets just say Missouri wins tonight (works either way) and WV losses. That would leave the rankings something like this:
1) Kansas
2) Ohio State
3) Georgia
4) LSU *maybe
Now if Kansas loses to OU in the Big 12 title game and for argument sake LSU loses again in the SEC title game that leaves Ohio State and Georgia at the top spots. Is that your National Championship game?

It's unlikely, but it's possible. I know I've seen non-conference winners in BCS games before. (In fact, last year many people wanted Michigan, who were #2 in the Big 10, to be in the title game against Ohio State, but UF was chosen instead...I think Michigan was ranked #3 in the BCS at that time)

I think there should be a playoff, but the bowl coalition will never let it happen for there is far too much MONEY to be made! Plus, it would be difficult to schedule a format everyone could agree with, considering the fact that you have six major conferences whose champions could lay claim to being deserving of a bid EVERY YEAR, plus MAYBE the C-USA champ and at large bids....You'd have a playoff that's WAY TOO BIG! Granted, it would be a money maker too, but it's too complicated for some people to see that. I'd love a 16 team playoff over a four week period IMMEDIATELY starting after the split conferences determine their champions. You'd have a regular season plus playoff that would be no longer than an NFL regular season. The only thing would be to find a way for the bowl system to make money from it and to get the schools to put term exams the week after Thanksgiving which would be tough, for the teams would be in preparation for playoffs/conference title games as well which would be another sticking point for a playoff scenario. To make it only 8 teams might work, but with so many teams going into the season's end in a given year undefeated or only having one loss might STILL leave a deserving team out in the cold!

Nebraska was in the National Championship game after the 2001 season without winning the Big 12. Oklahoma lost in the Big 12 championship game, but still played LSU for the National Championship after the 2004 season.

This one is a tough one. I think the Mizzou and Kansas game is going to be a close one and a nail biting one. Which ever team wins the Mizzou and Kansas game will definitely determine who is number one in the Big 12 becuz i don't think they Sooners can bounce back from their loss to Texas Tech. Ohio State is probably going to the Rose Bowl I would think becuz I really do not think Kansas is going to lose or any other team ahead of them becuz this week is really important to everyone and players are going to but their heart and soul into the game. So let the games begin! Let the playing do the talking!

Unless tehy changed the rulles in the last couple of years, yes they can.

I remember 3 or 4 years ago, Nebraska didn't even win the Big 12 North, so they didn't even qualify for the Big 12 championship game, yet by sitting out and having other teams lose, they ended up #2 in the BCS and lost in the title game that season.

I suppose it's theoretically possible, but it is sure a lot to ask. As a Georgia fan, of course I'd be excited to be in the title game, but personally, I'd prefer not to back into it like that. With 2 losses, I honestly have a hard time feeling deserving of a national title game.

Nope. UGA cannot play in the BSC Championship game. After 2001 when Nebraska went to the championship game and did not win their conference, they changed the rules. You must win your conference to play in the championship game.

Being a Dawg fan I like your outcome. But being a realist, unlike OSU fans, that scenery probably won't happen. Missouri would be ahead of UGA if they beat Kansas.

i think it would be Kansas vs. WV. if Kansas goes to the Big 12 title game it would be close if they played OU.
