Its definitely a deterrent ! No one who's been given the death penalty commits another crime !!
For some crimes yes for eg = Opportunist Murderers and Crimes against children as long as the D N A proves beyond a doubt that they are guilty of the crime I think they should face the death penalty

I believe in the death penalty for certain crimes, such as against children or murder. Don't know if it's a deterrent, but at least we would ,ake sure that those particular people will never get out to repeat their crimes.

Yes, I think people should be hung by the neck until they cheer up.

Actually no. I totally disagree with the state KILLING people. I don't care what it is, we don't have the right to kill someone else and neither should the state. For really bad crimes people should be removed from society, perhaps for a very long time and they shouldn't be given a media platform (some people will know what I mean)

No I don't think it is a deterrent & as with Thmothy Evans & Dereck Bentley you can't bring them back I remember these cases as a child (I had to pass Riddington Place on my way to school & an aunt of Dereck Bentley lived in the same Road as us)

For "Britain" read "The World." It is definitely, the only deterrent, for certain kinds of crime.

I agree with the death penalty but I don't like the thought of an innocent person being put to death if wrongly convicted.

Not while the police still frame people for crimes. You cannot have the death penalty while there is even one miscarriage of justice.
