I have a concrete wall in the middle of the basement I want to remove. It is about a meter high and 10-15" thick, very strong.
I tried an elecrical hummer drill -- it will take forever. Explosives are out of question! Are there tools available for renting out that can do this kind of job?

It does not support anything (you think I will knock down a supportive element of the house?) and it is not made of bricks but a very strong concrete.

A long handled heavy sledge-hammer is one option but you can also rent an electric jack-hammer from home-depot for a day that would probably work well. I have used these several times to break up basement floors to lay sewer pipe. Go see the rental guys at home depot and they will fix you up with what you need. Youre probably looking at $80 to $100 for a whole days rental.

If it is in the middle of the basement, check how many supports are there. It could be the only thing supporting your living room from falling into the basement.

If it's just a wall, knock the bricks on the corners, don't start from the middle and make a circle. Normally a large mallet can do the job.

You can use a sledge hammer but it will take awhile or you cna rent a quick cut saw which is gas powered so you will need to leave windows open. The only other tool you could use would be an electric jackhammer and you can rent those as well

Check carefully there Oracle!
That knee wall may be internal support for your
foundation walls.
Is it between two columns in the exterior wall?
It might be shielding for a utility line passing through.
Are there any easements in your Deed?
Something like that is there for a reason, and it
behooves you to find out before removing it.

The best thing for job would be a air compressor and jack hammer.

Take care though cause of the vibration.

I don't have any better suggestions than the ones you have tried...but are you sure that wall isn't there for a reason? Make sure it's non supportive before you take it out.
