It's socially unacceptable to wear jeans. Just wear a suit. It's supposed to be the couple's special day. Don't spoil it by wearing jeans

Jeans are a big no!! Especially at a formal affair. Plus you need to respect the bride and groom and how they want you to be a part of their day, which includes dressing up. Weddings are a special day and if you can't even suck it up and wear some dress pants, it will show you don't really respect your invitation to share that day. You don't have to wear a suit, but dress pants and a button up shirt is the least you can do. Believe me, you will stand out if you wear jeans, it's just tacky.

Jeans are inappropriate at a wedding unless that's what the bride is wearing.

Be respectful of the happy couple and show them you understand what a special occasion this is by dressing appropriately in your very best. That's why you need to wear the suit.

Dude, come on! OK, I suppose I shouldn't be judgemental. It does matter the type of wedding. If it's really informal, then go with jeans. But if not... well, just remember why you're going. It's that couple's day, not yours. On their day they want people to look great and classy for pictures. At your wedding you can wear jeans, but respect that couple's wedding and AT LEAST wear nice slacks, a long sleeve shirt and a tie. You don't always have to wear a suit, but you always have to look your best for the occasion. This occasion requires you to dress up. Don't wear jeans, you'll embarrass yourself, your date, and the married couple. If you don't care about any of that and actually do want to insult the couple, then buy a tuxedo t-shirt to go with your jeans. Also, comb your mullet. :)

I guess it depends on the type of wedding it is.. is it more casual or super formal kinda thing. Generally speaking though, jeans arent really appropriate, however you dont necessarily have to wear a suit. Personally i think go for a pair of dress pants and a nice shirt if you dont wanna get dressed up in a suit.

I think you should wear a suit because I've never ever seen anyone wear jeans in a wedding. They're a big deal that's worth dressing up for.

Its a wedding, wouldn't you feel awkward if everyone else is dressed nice, like wearing a suit, and your wearing jeans. You only wear a suit for special occasions, you can wear your jeans any day.

Grow up! The wedding is not about you, it's THEIR wedding. Don the suit and look your very best.

Take along the jeans. If others show up at the reception more casually attired, you can always slip into the bathroom and make a quick change, if you must.

I went through a similar inner argument when I went to my cousins wedding but I ended up going out and buying a skirt anyway

It would be so nice to wear whatever you want to a wedding but there's a limit to what you can get away with and what is considered too informal and jeans are just not formal enough
