think about it FXX, F40, F50 you can never remeber which model is which but soon as you say enzo, it is a distinctive word and soon as you hear it you get the image of the enzo in your head

An interesting question... though first off, I am pretty sure that the F60 is EXACTLY as well known as the Enzo, seeing as how the F60 is the Enzo.

The FXX is based on the Enzo, just as the F50GT was based on the F50. The FXX is most likely considered by many to a varient of the Enzo.

Now, in terms of "famous," this will depend entirely on who you ask... if you go to a Ferrari club get together you will most likely find everyone there equally familar with the F50 and F40 (not to mention the earlier 288GTO and GTO Evo which were the supercars that came before the F40).

But if you are speaking of the general public? The answer is very simple... the F40 and F50 are not current cars where the Enzo was recently produced. The Enzo is talked about in car magazines and compared to other cars.

If you go back 10 years, you'd find that the F50 was every bit as famous at that time as the Enzo is today (and someone probably asked why the F50 was so much more famous than the F50GT, F40, 288GTO, etc).

If you go back further, you'll find the F40 (along with the Porsche 959) was THE supercar of that time, and the touchstone against which all others were compared.

In 10 more years people may ask why the F70 is so much more famous than the Enzo. That's the nature of fame.

It is because the Ferrari Enzo is the base of many cars. For example, the Maserati MC12 and even the Ferrari FXX are both based on the Enzo.
It is also because the Enzo uses most of the technology used in Formua 1.
