Reasons:

They are arrogant and self-centered.

They don't have to think, because there is only one right answer--theirs.

It's good to have confidence in one's own judgment but to exclude the possibility of ever being mistaken is taking it to an unhealthy extreme. So why do they think that way? As my little brother's fond of saying, "Their brains ain't right!"

I usually think I'm right probably because I find it cripplingly depressing to operate under the opposite assumption.
