ok this is a 2 part question. but it is all about auditions. wanna help?

Question

i want to audition for our school musical in april. I can act and sing but my singing is not the best. i can sing really well when it is low (i have a naturally low voice when i sing but i go to an all girls school so all the music is up higher. is there any free website that i can train my self to sing higher?

part 2-- we also have to dance. i am not the best dancer. so can you tell me how your school held the dance part of auditions? was it in a group or what?

auditions are in april like i said. i just want to be ready. Im 14 if that is help

Let me tell you this: No website will train your voice for free-i would suggest a voice trainer-NOT over the internet. Because with an actual person they won't strain your voice which can ruin your vocal chords. They will go slowly unlike the internet.


At my school here's how they do the dancing audition:

We are all in a group and the choreographer teaches us a routine.
Then we just do it in front of the director-it will never be a solo dancing audition so don't worry about that. And usually in school productions you don't have to be a great singer.

I think it's awesome that you are willing to start preparations for an audition that's not until April. That shows how much you want this. Is this your first audition altogether or is it just your first audition for a musical? You should be prepared to have a quick solo both in dance and singing. It may also be a good idea to have a monologue prepared. Choose what you are GOOD at for the singing and dance. Stay as safe as you can without looking too *YAWN*. I have seen people win over directors and casting agents with their character more so than their talents. Also, be sure you start a cardio routine now if you aren't already on one. The worst thing you can do is look winded after a quick audition. Everyone will wonder what will happen if you attempt a complete performance! Most of all, HAVE FUN WITH IT!!!! This is a learning experience for you. Even if you don't get a role or THE role you want, you will have done something a majority of the world has NEVER done AND you will have experience that will benefit you for the next audition. Oh, and if you can, talk to the people in charge of the musical. Explain that you are interested, it's your first audition, and you have a couple questions. If anything it will be good to let them know NOW that you are preparing for something so far in advance.

You need a voice teacher. Private lessons are the only answer. Nothing on the web can possibly help.

true dance auditions are usually done by the choreographer teaching groups of 8 or so auditionees at a time a routine and having them repeat it.

we never had much dance in our shows, and our choreographers just taught the whole chous and what necessary priniples the routines in rehearsals.

I'd say sing your best song in the key you're best at. When I did high school theater (back in caveman days) we'd change songs to fit the talent. Don't know about free web site with vocal training, it's a good idea though!

We did it chorus line style for round one, which I never made it past, with the best doing solo auditions.
