You know dear, I don't mean to brag but honestly I'm just like you too, I gave away stars to every questions that I answered and there was once when a user emailed me and said the same thing...
My reply was '' Yes, thank you for noticing and it is great to give out stars because if it makes people happy for free then why not? And it takes a dumb person to know dumb questions...'' ^_^
Overall, you did told him/her off well, definitely much better than myself... I have this feeling that it could be the same user... Take care... ^_^

Unfortunately, lots of people get put down and cussed out on Y!A. Either it was someone who disagreed with something you said in an answer or question, or it was someone who randomly sends out e-mails like that to strangers. But I think it's most likely they targeted you; they mentioned your kids, so obviously they read your profile info before e-mailing you. If I were you, I would just delete it and forget about it. I understand you wanting to get back at them, but there's nothing else you can really do, except respond and tell them off. You can't report someone for sending you an e-mail. I know it's really hurtful and shakening, but if someone was really going to do that, do you think they'd take the time and let you know? Besides, this person probably has no idea where you live. Like I said, they probably just disagreed with something you said. I mean REALLY disagreed, and they wanted to get something stirred up. Or maybe they just wanted to scare you. Ignoring it is the best idea. Someone like that isn't even worth fretting over, agreed? Being a Y!A answers user, I've been called names on here that I've never been called in real life (at least not to my face) all because some douche bag didn't agree with my opinion. It's hard to get over it. Y!A is a place to express your opinions, but unfortunately, some people aren't mature enough to handle that. They think that they are have the right to express their opinions, but no one else does, unless they are in agreement. People can't do that in public, because they could get in trouble. But they take avantage of the internet, because they can insult people all they want and get away with it, most of the time. Just remove the disgusting thing from your inbox, and go on with your life. The person won't even be sure you got it if you don't respond, and that could spoil his fun. And if this person persists, maybe you should consider changing your e-mail to Private on the Edit Preferences page, so random people won't be contacting you. And be sure to block anyone who sends you e-mails like that, if possible.

If you answer the question then you have become interested in it and as Yahoo do not have a rubbish button next to the star its the only one you can hit. Its also shows good manners make you fell good and the questioner fell good to, as do a thumbs up.
so have a star and a thumbs up to all

uhm, I'd have said "Thanks for pointing that out" and I would have reflected a bit on why I do such a strange thing.
The humbler you are, the better you will eventually become, since you will be able to take all constructive criticism on board and act on it.
The person seemed friendly enough while you sounded a tad on your guard which isn't so happy a mood to be in.
But in short, you acted like most people would so:

I would say the same Clo.
Thing is...since yahoo took away the thumbs option for questions....the only way to show your approval of questions is the star option. No way any more to show disapproval of questions. I feel thumbless at times.....

I don't see what's the problem cos' the stars are yours to give. It's your freedom in deciding whether to give stars to the questions you answer.Since you answered that question, that means you are either interested or finds it interesting. So why not?
