One thing the liberal leaning folks are good at is taking criticism, looking honestly at the results of our actions, admitting mistakes, correcting the behavior and trying to do better the next time?

Where as the conserative half of our society has, by nature, difficulty with this process? Would they would be more likely to 'defend the old guard'>

ok, lots more conservative venting that I'd hoped for. But come on guys, can you support your arugement with anything except ad-hoc examples and your own rhetoric? Any facts and data

You must have touched on some truth, the way the cons answering here are freaking out! But actually I think the extreme libs have just as much trouble. Don't know about the moderate cons, the ones I know in my heavily repub county are pretty much intimidated by the extremists and afraid to back away from the extreme viewpoints espoused by the more radical members of their party.

I would have to totally disagree with this statement. What you are describing is how liberals think of themselves, not how they actually are.

In fact, most are convinced of their moral superiority and rightousness and stick their heads in the sand upon coming upon any new fact that disagrees with their worldview. The usual tactic is to accuse the source of the fact, and dismiss it out of hand.

You can see excellent examples of this here on YA. I have posted several documented facts about how the economy is doing pretty well. Most liberals accuse me of not understanding the plight of real americans, don't even look at the fact, and blame Bush for things being so bad.

Liberals also have no interest in listening to the other side of an argument, and instead prefer to silence them. For that example, I point you to various university speeches by conservatives, where the speakers end up shouted down, attacked, or have the venue hijacked by protestors. Look up Columbia University and the Minuteman speaker. Look up Ann Coulter and Bill Kristol speeches at universities. There are video examples of all of these.

Another liberal example of not wanting to hear the other side - Global Warming. If contrary evidence is brought forward, the person is instantly accused of being a tool of big oil. Gore then says "The Debate is Over," or "The science is overwhelming," even though neither is true.

Conservatives are not perfect by any means. We have our blindspots too. But at least we aren't delusional about ourselves.

There may very well be individuals who are liberal who fit the description you have offered above.

However, this is far from an accurate description of the general character of the typical liberal.

Both sides have a major problem dealing with the world as it is and not as they wish that it were.

So, youve made a statement of your opinion, where is the question?

I switch to Fox when CNN occasionally gets side-tracked on ridiculous non-news stories like Michael Jackson. Usually, though, there's no reason to waste time with them.

I think it's pretty easy to demonstrate that you have it exactly backwards....

The Democrat leadership admits mistakes when unexpected things like "Soiled blue dresses" are brought into the light.

Dstr: How many funerals did President Clinton attend for Bosnians, US Servicemen or Samalis...? None.

Can you Email me an example of any Dems admitting mistakes...?

Liberals are handicapped, they have never been taught how to think. In order to think one must have a brain and it must be engaged before the mouth opens.

I disagree wholeheartedly. I have never seen a group that will take the biggest lie and run it up the flag pole and worship that lie. What I have seen is more naivety and gullibility than the law should allow.

You couldn't be more wrong. As a liberal, you see the world through liberal lenses. Don't try to figure it out. If you start thinking instead of " feeling" issues you'll begin to understand the conservatives
