So I recently visited the USS Hornet, one of the most haunted ships in america, it was at night, i couldn't go inside, but just outside in the boarding area or whatever i could hear really loud knocking on the staircases like someone trying to get my attention, and of course there wasn't anyone there to knock on them. The sound stopped, and assuming there was an entity I decided to ask him questions, one of which was "are you stuck here" and told him to make specific knocks corresponding to a yes or no, and sure enough I got a "yes" answer. And btw, The ship was completely still and the steel was too heavy in place for anything to possibly make those knocking sounds. So then are ghosts truly stuck in the place of their death? I don't see why they can't just leave and explore. I want a serious answer for this from someone who has read a lot on this subject

The reasn that some ghost are "stuck" somewhere is because either this is the place where they were happy and a place that they really enoyed, or they have something that that are wanting to be done before they leave. They can be there to watch after a place that they liked as to make sure noone disrespects it ( like they are protecting this place).

There are a number of reasons why spirits are stuck.
They might not know (or believe)their dead.
They might be afraid to go to the light.
They might want to finish something or help someone.
Someone who is still alive might not want to let them go, so the spirit feels bad and sticks around.
Just to name a few.

I know, it's like I'd be in Italy or the Carribean if I was dead! But I've heard that they stay because of strong emotional attachments that have occured in those certain places. Good or bad.

my grand dad's Old farmhouse had this set of stairs that would Creak as if someone was walking on them its quite fascinating when your 5 years old and the folks just ignore it and say"get used to it" some other folks moved in but I think their Loud ways drove the spirits away
