I am on my 6th day of taking birth control, and the package says it is fully effective after 7.

However, I have heard so many different things, i have heard it takes a full cycle, and some people are saying 2-3 full months.

How long before it is ACTUALLY effective?

Ps- we're still going to use a condom but i don't wanna have sex till the bc is also in effect, because, accidents do happen.

If you are that worried about getting pregnant, you probably shouldn't be having sex in the first place.

i would follow the instructions. if it says 7 days. just wait 7 days. im on the shot so that might be a little different. my doctor says my shot is fully effective after 7 days as well. ive been on it now 8 years and occasionally im late for an appointment here and there and she still tells me 7 days. so maybe thats an all round deal. the pill should regulate your period in 2-3 months is what my sister told me. it has nothing to do with the effectiveness.

Your supposed to take the birthcontrol for a consecutive 2 weeks before having unprotected sex (meaning no condom) I'm 100% sure on this! I've asked my doctor myself because i've changed my birthcontrol pills 3 different times. And its good that you don't want to have sex untill its in effect- your SMART- unlike many people!! I'd rather be safe than sorry- i wouldn't risk it.. especially if you've only been taking the pills for 6 days.

Take care & BE SAFE girly!!

It's hard to say. But I was told to wait a couple of weeks and to be safer wait a whole cycle. Every woman is different so I would suggest using a condom for a little while longer just in case as you are absolutely right that accidents do happen.

It depends on when you started............If you took the first pill on the first sunday of your period then you should be safe after 7 pills, it also means your next period WILL NOT start on a weekend but more like a tuesday. The original pill creators did this as a feature.

If you started you pills any other time in your cycle you need to finish the first pack. Before it is fully effective.
