I've heard of the "Fairness Doctrine" and must say it meets all the standards of my rule.

It would be the intelligent thing to do, so I'd say yes. Restoring the 4th branch of government to it's previous status of a not-for-profit organization would be an excellent start.

Hannity and Limbaugh shows aren't news...they are shows featuring demagogues with a message meant to invigorate those that don't read, or even care, too much about the world in which we live.

The Fairness Doctrine was designed when radio was new, it was put in place to ensure that radio would not harbor demagogues with opinions. Rather, it dictated fairness in offering opposition points of view, that's all.

What would Limbaugh do if he was required to have experts on to discuss topics of the day? Probably go off the air, as, his listeners really don't want to hear about information difficult to digest!

Have you heard of the First Amendment to the US Constitution? The FCC regulation you referenced should be called the "Unfairness Doctrine."

I am not sure what you mean by sterilize the media. If the democrats get into office they can thank the Bush bashing media so I doubt they would want to change anything.
