Perhaps because of the large concentration of telescopes there. On Mauna Kea alone there are 13.

See, for something to be a UFO it has to be "unidentified" (that's the "U" in UFO).

Most "UFO's" are subsequently identified. Here are some of the most common things that lead to "UFO" reports:

Bright Stars - because of the atmospheric effects, bright stars can twinkle so much when near the horizon that they appear to move.

Bright Planets.

Very bright solitary meteors (which usually can't be predicted).

Atmospheric phenomena such as "noctilucent clouds" (thin, high altitude clouds illuminated by the sun after it has set below the horizon) - this phenomenon is only seen between latitudes of 45 and 60 degrees.

Weather and research balloons.

Aircraft.

Artificial satellites.

Birds.

*note* Familiar things seen under unusual conditions can appear very strange and can be difficult to identify.

And here is my personal opinion: the things that remain "UFOs" (that is, remain "unidentified") tend to be the things that people see and don't report, or don't make a valid effort to identify.

When someone says, "I saw a UFO" try asking them whom they reported it to and what efforts were made to identify it.

The answer is simple.

The little green men (aliens) blend it to well with the tropical paradise and therefore invisible to the untrained eye. The also put some of the flowers behind their ears as part of their camoflage.
