There are many interesting answers. To me Magick is as real as Christain prayer. nuff said and Dr. Zoom Zoom 3.o have anwers that I wished to email for more elaberation but hey don't allow it. It is true many famous occultists were frauds and when trying to do very selfish things like finacial gain were unsucessful, but what of the claims of Wiccan/Pagans for examlpe .Are they all delusional.

Also if " All of it is idolatry and paganism. Lucifer was cast out of heaven and given domain over the earth, the air, the, sky, and the waters. them. If you don't believe, they cant hurt or affect you." then would that mean Christian prayer wuold not effect the unbeliever ? Is it the srength of ones belief/faith effect results?

Nobody has offended me in their answers, thank you all, this is going liked I hoped. Please continue...

Some witches claim magick is just magick and there is no white or black but the intent. I do agree with the intent but I also believe there is negative magick which is also considered black magick.

Now magick is not good or evil in and of itself. it is not from Satan or demons that Is a Christian concept and is wrong.

Since I practice Wicca to me any magick done in a negative way is wrong. It is wrong to try an control another person like in a love spell and it is wrong to try and harm people by using magick, but in cases of self defense it is alright to cast protection spells and to bind people from harming us but that is all.

Black magick would of course be those spells to harm or manipulate people against their will.

It's all just magick. The white (good) and black (bad) is in the judgment and intent of the user. A good source to understanding the structure of magick in some detail is the book "Real Magic" by Isaac Bonewitts (link below).
For an example take nuclear power. This can be used to provide electricity and reduce our use of fossil fuels that are a more limited resource and harm the environment.
However, nuclear power plants produce toxic waste that is harmful to both people and the environment (if not properly stored). So, is nuclear power good or bad? It is not an either or question but instead a and also question. Nuclear power is good and it is also bad (just like magick).
Nuclear weapons are considered bad (evil) by many and certainly kill people and are destructive for the earth. However, did this evil keep us from being under communist (Soviet) rule? Did the devastation and horror of the Atomic bomb(s) actually cost less lives than if the war was allowed to continue? Even the most evil things (weapons designed to kill) can be put to good use (saving lives and preventing attacks).

Also there are prayer studies that show the effectiveness of prayer on healing (even when people are unaware they are being prayed for). This work is most pursued by Larry Dossey, M.D. (link below). I am unaware of (but would like to see) similar studies using prayer in non christian (Wiccan, etc.) healing studies.
Due to ethical considerations studies on Black Magick will never be done by scientist.

It's just magick, black and white magick is nothing more than a abstract concept to justify a guilty conscience due to Christian concepts of good an evil. Since according to Christian doctrine all magick is the work of the devil there can be no such thing as good magick. And since good and evil are merely abstract concepts that don't actually exist black and white magick does not exist, so it is just magick.

Magic is a tool. It has no moral disposition. Talking about black magic is like calling a hammer used by a murderer a "black hammer," versus one used to build a house being a "white hammer." It's just a hammer, equally able to to do either.

Putting the ethics on the magic takes it away from the user. I have come across several people who thought they could use magic without thought because they used white magic and white magic couldn't possibly cause any harm.

Here's the deal on magic: whether "black" or "white" it all pertains to the aquisition and application of esoteric knowledge which God adamantly forbids throughout the scriptures. It was this curiousity that caused Adam and Eve to disobey God and eat of "the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil" thus putting all future generations under the yoke of sin and satan.
In essence, there is no such thing as black or white magic, or magic for good or evil. The Lord God considers it all evil as it is, at heart, a sinfully selfish desire to know and control that which is only available to God and His angels.

I think its just magic, black, white, pink with yellow polka dots is still magic. And I certainly believe in it. althoug it might also have a very scientific explanation that my humble brain might never understand (am a tacher and still can not understand some basic third grae chemistry thingies...sigh)
But it is just magic, however, I also believe that not all the intentions are good or bad, and sometimes we do things with a mix of both, but I think that has to do more with morality than with magic

I agree that magic is about as real as prayer. I believe the power of both are limited exactly to the degree their subconscious can influence how they perceive these things to be effective. In other words, it's all in the head.

I think it depends on who is performing the magic, and why s/he it performing it. If it's to help others and for good, and it's white magic, and if it's for the opposite, then it's black magic. I don't think it can get any simpler than that.

i believe that black magick is anything that is done in harm or malice and white magick is what is most commonly practiced in every day life and done for healing and peaceful reasons.
