Hi,
Well I knew I was pregnant because I was so sick. It was a different type of sickness kind of like a cross between a cold and food poisoning. And it was my first pregnancy.
I started at around 6 weeks and it didn't abate until 13 weeks. (and it was HEAVEN when it stopped!)
They say the longer you have it, the healthier the baby though...
Good Luck to your friend!

I had a few days of nausea and vomitting from about 6-9 weeks with my first child. With my second it was around the same time but only mild nausea.
Now I am 7 weeks with my third and I have had nausea pretty much everyday since I was 4 weeks pregnant. I just feel crappy and off colour all the time but have not vomitted yet (although I felt close a few times!). It is at any time of day and usually more in the moring and then late afternoon and evening.
Morning sickness can hit anytime but usually between 6-12 weeks it is at its worst. Its more common to get nausea rather than actual vomitting too.

Often the hormone changes that throw your body into a flu like sickness in the very early stages 0-2 wks is mistaken for morning sickness.
and morning sickness is by definition fluctations in blood sugar and can be prevented by a solid consistent eating schedule.
I got the nauseated, cant' stand the smell of food, waking up and throwing up morning sickness at 4 weeks. Right after I tested positive for being pregnant.

My 1st pregnancy I was 30 aND I did not know until I went to a movie and got motion sickness. I was 20 weeks pregnant.
My 2nd pregnancy, I was 40, and again I did not know until I was 20 weeks along and again...I was watching a movie and had motion sickness.
I never actually had morning sickness or any other form of sickness.
Blessings

in my first pregnancy i had it from weeks 6 to 23. in my second i had it from weeks 14 to around 18 and it was worse than my first! im now 4weeks with baby 3 n iv been feeling quite nauseous for a couple of days. i think it really varies per pregnancy. some women are lucky enough not to get it. its supposed to start around week 6 then ease off around 12 weeks.

Only time I ever felt sick I was like 18-20weeks. I never had it in my first trimester. I didn't know I was pregnant at all until I was 18weeks. This is my first pregnancy
