I would consider myself far less of a person if it hadn't,
It's been a long time comin' though, these days I no longer need
to be unprepared and vulnerable for a little tear to flow.
But the most moving moments are not the ones when compassion is felt, but when it is given ( often utterly unexpected). You really get to know your friends when you're
down and out. As has happened twice to me.

Compassion? Me?
Hardly. I'm seen as an arrogant @$$ by most, and my definition of compassion is NOT whacking the homeless guy with my cane... ((Sorry, I really hate those idiots...))
Anyways, the one time any emotion had me unprepared and vulnerable, I actually DID cry.... because it was when I asked my ex-girlfriend to marry me roughly the exact same second she informed me she was going to date someone else. That was the emotion called idiocy...wait...no...love...meh...whatever.. not compassion.

Oh yes, Buk! I have a very strong sense of compassion, and sometimes the effects get the better of me.

I'm the one that blasted a fire-extinguisher filled with ice cold water at you while you were waiting for the bus...(mind you...this was over 27 years ago, and I'm not "proud" of that moment, but still...it did crack us up back then...
I have deep compassion...
But it has it limits...
(Not crying, not unprepared, and never vulnerable...)
Cheers! (Sorry about getting you wet...but not cryin...lol...)

Happens a lot when you work in a hospital. You think you've got the "professional stoicism" armor protecting you, but there is always a story unfolding that cuts right through it and wrenches your heart out, and you're undone.

Yes, actually, especially when I heard about the big earthquake in Peru, because my mother has a lot of friends down there.
