Assuming you have no family and aren't a professional driver the M3 coupe is probably the best car for you. If you found that car too cramped of course you could go for a 550i at about the same price. If you don't care about depreciation you could go for a 7-series car, but if you don't plan to carry 4-5 adults I don't know why anyone would buy that expensive car. The M3 coupe is the best option I think, not too big, very sporty and powerful, beautiful car and fun to drive.

Ummm...kinda silly question don't you think? If you have $100k, and you are asking other people what car you should buy, you must have more money than brains. You can afford pretty much any BMW they make right now....(a few exceptions)...so go to a dealership and drive a few. Personally I am partial to the M5. The M6 is the same car as the M5 pretty much....just take away 2 doors. But its really a personal preference. If you want sporty, buy an M3. If you want sporty practical, buy and M5. If you want luxury, buy a 7. Or you could buy a 535ix, and spend the rest of the money on fun stuff for the car....(rims, exhaust, maybe bigger turbos).

Hands down the M5 is the best bang for the buck for a sedan, and the M3 for the coupe.
I am not a big fan of the new M6 as it does not use true SMG. Yet the M5 and M3 both do.
With 500 horses at touch of a button and the heads up display. Who needs another car. The M5 can be your only car. it combines work and play into one car.
You can find one that is fully loaded for about $92,000. Once you drive this thing, you will be blown away...
P.S. Try the Launch Control feature...its like launching a rocket but more fun.

I personally love the M series so I would go with an M3, an M5, or an M6. All 3 cars have great reviews. If you don't mind having a coupe, I would go with the M3.
Another option is to wait a couple years because a new M car will be out soon.

Yes, the M6 is a bad car, but what everyone means is that it is a BAD (ie - good, great, cool, awesome, fast, well made, top of the line, etc.) car.
I suggest you read ANY automobile magazine article about the M6, and you will fall in love with it.
But then, your budget is only $100,000.00 and you may need some money for tax, title, destination charges, preparation, and other expenses if you want a fine M6.
Maybe you can borrow some more money?

M series cars are for people who are into cars. Everything is geared toward performance and would cost 2X much compare to other BMW cars. You can lease it for few years, but if you want to keep the car fore more than 3 years, then you are better off getting BMW 540 or BMW 550.
I got nothing against M cars, and do like working on M cars. I just think for an average driver, this is too much. They handle great, but suspension would be too harsh for normal street driving. Parts are super expensive, and brake components wear out faster than most BMW cars.

Go with the M5. Awesome performance and all the luxury and technology you could ever ask for. M6 is sweet but not as practical. With 100K you could find the most modded out M5 out there.

If you have a family consider getting a sedan, like a 750li or the M5 sedan. If you don't have a family, go for the M6! Those things look awesome!

If u want to go on the track, the M5 can turn off the electronic limit via red button, taking it to about 205 mph. Also, it has 4 doors.
