Alot of people think that they never did, and that it was all staged in Hollywood. (Neil Armstrog 1969)
Is that true?
And why did the USA flag flutter, shoudn't it be still on the moon because of the lack of gravity? (or something like that!)

Thanks.

Its not that i don't believe in it. Its just that some people say that they don't think it happened and i just wanted to know why they didn't.

I **KNOW** they landed on the moon. No need for thinking, or belief, or faith -- it is proven scientific fact. And a lot of folks here think that the Moon landing conspiracy theory bozos are idiots for asking this question interminably on this website.

First, the flag(s) on the moon do not "flutter" in the wind -- because there is no wind on the moon (no air, Duh!). The scientists in NASA knew this, and anybody with even the mere rudiments of scientific education know that a flag in an airless environment would hang limply next to the flagpole. What a crappy photo that would make. So when they made the flag units for the lunar landings, the manufacturer deliberately designed and included an extending rod that folded flat against the pole during the flight. When it came time to plant the flag(s) on the moon, the astronauts deployed this extension rod so that the flag would be held open in a photogenic position. Look at the photos of the flags on the moon -- you can SEE the sleeve at the top of the field of the flag which wraps around that rod -- that's why is is so straight!

http://history.nasa.gov/ap11ann/kippsphotos/apollo.html

The first rod (Apollo 11) did not fully extend, so it left some wrinkles and creases in the field of the flag, making it appear as if it was blowing in the wind. But if you watch the actual videos of the moon landings, the only time you actually see any MOTION is when the astronauts are doing something to the flag -- deploying it, planting it in the lunar soil, twisting the pole to make it sink in deeper, etc. Once they step back, momentum keeps it moving for a short while, and then it is PERFECTLY STILL.

http://space.about.com/library/video/blvidapollo11_onbclip09.htm

And you CAN'T see any motion in a still photo (again, DUH!).

In addition, there were more than ¼ million people involved with the Apollo moon landings, from almost every nation on Earth. None of them have made the claim that the landings were faked. Even our mortal enemies of the day, the Soviet Union, admitted that we had beaten them to the moon, and congratulated us on our success. And you can guarantee that, if the landings had been faked, the Russians would have exposed us by now. they certainly had all the technical know-how and capability to track our flight to the moon and back, and would have been the first to scream fraud if it had been faked.

There has been a multi-million dollar reward posted for anyone will can step forward and prove that the U.S. never landed on the moon. In almost 40 years, nobody has been able to claim the prize. In fact, nobody has even TRIED to claim the prize, because anybody with even the smallest bit of brain in their heads knows that the U.S. landed men on the Moon six different times between 1969 and 1972.

Try looking at an respectable, reputable source of information, rather than wasting your time with that YouTube, conspiracy theory crap. And stop wasting our time with a question that has been asked here on this very site thousands of times, and has been throughly debunked.

1) Twelve 12 American astronauts have walked on the moon. Apollo 11: Neil Armstrong & Buzz Aldrin Apollo 12: Pete Conrad & Alan Bean Apollo 13: << failed to land on the moon >> Apollo 14: Alan Shepard & Edgar (Ed) Mitchell Apollo 15: David Scott & James Irwin Apollo 16: John Young & Charles Duke Apollo 17: Eugene (Gene) Cernan & Harrison Schmidt 2) Why haven't we been back? a) American astronauts visited the moon on six occasions. b) The "moon race" was an extension of the cold war. It was mostly about national prestige. We got there first and achieved our primary objective. There was some good science: surveys, measurements, sample collection. But it was mostly about being there first. Once we achieved our primary objective, there was no political will to go back. There still isn't. Perhaps, if we discover He3 or something else valuable, there will be. c) I used to travel to Crested Butte, Colorado every year to ski. Because I don't go anymore, does it mean that I never went? 3) What about the Van Allen radiation belts? Wouldn't it have killed the astronauts? The existence of the Van Allen radiation belts postulated in the 1940s by Nicholas Christofilos. Their existence was confirmed in *1958* by the Explorer I satellite launched by the USA. The radiation in the Van Allen radiation belts is not particularly strong. You would have to hang out there for a week or so in order to get radiation sickness. And, because the radiation is not particularly strong, a few millimeters of metal is all that is required for protection. "An object satellite shielded by 3 mm of aluminum will receive about 2500 rem (25 Sv) per *year*." "In practice, Apollo astronauts who travelled to the moon spent very little time in the belts and received a harmless dose. [6]. Nevertheless NASA deliberately timed Apollo launches, and used lunar transfer orbits that only skirted the edge of the belt over the equator to minimise the radiation." When the astronauts returned to Earth, their dosimeters showed that they had received about as much radiation as a couple of medical X-rays. 4) The U.S. government scammed everyone? In 1972, there was a politically motivated burglary of a hotel room in the Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C. There were only about six or eight people who knew about it. However, those people, including Richard M. Nixon, the President of the United States, failed to keep that burglary a secret. It exploded into a scandal that drove the President and a number of others from office. If six or eight people couldn't keep a hotel room burglary a secret, then how could literally thousands of people could have kept their mouths shut about six faked moon landings? Not just one moon landing, but six of them! 5) What about the USSR? Even if NASA and other government agencies could have faked the six moon landings well enough to fool the general public, they could NOT have fooled the space agency or military intelligence types in the USSR. The Soviets were just dying to beat us. If the landings were faked, the Soviets would have re-engineered their N-1 booster and landed on the moon just to prove what liars Americans are. Why didn't they? Because the landings were real and the Soviets knew it. 6) Why does the flag shake? Where are the stars? Take a look at the first two websites listed below. They deal well with all of the technical questions. 7) Finally, please tell us what you would accept as definitive evidence that the six moon landings were real. Is there anything?

I don't think, I know. There were six successful moon landings.

"Alot of people think that they never did"? Who?

The flag was held out by coathanger wire. It "fluttered" whenever it was touched or moved. The movement in the flag took a long time to damp because there is no air resistance to stop the sideways motion. There is plenty of gravity on the moon, but it's only one-sixth of Earth, and because it's pulling straight down it took a long time for that gravity to damp the flag's movement.

(or something like that!)

We can prove that we've been to the moon several ways. Lunar regolith (dirt and rocks from the moon) are very different from the dirt and rocks you find here on Earth. The soil is kind of glassy like sand. NASA has a lot of information about its composition available to the public for free (on nasa.gov)

Japan recently sent a satellite to orbit the moon and send back high resolution pictures. Its almost certain they will eventually map the visible surface of the moon and prove once and for all that we've made it.

Keep in mind that 400,000 scientists, engineers, and physicists worked full time (and then some) for nearly 10 years to put a man on the moon. If each of these people worked an average work week (40 hours), then we've had 7,488,000,000 man hours to figure it out. If you divide that down, its the equivalent of 854,795 years of research.

The French and the Russian intelligence communities went hand in hand and repeatedly attempted to spread that tale, among some others.

As example the French publishing house Carnot published not longtime ago "Lumières sur la Lune: la NASA a t-elle menti?" (Lights on the Moon: did the NASA lie?) by Philippe Lheureux, an absurd book which, in a scientific-like manner questions the landing of the two U.S. astronauts on the moon.

The same publishing house released L'Effroyable imposture (or "The Horrifying Fraud") which is the original French title of a highly controversial 2002 conspiracy theory book by French journalist and political activist Thierry Meyssan. Its English edition is entitled "9/11: The Big Lie."

It's just anti-U.S. propaganda and Carnot publishing is well known for its anti-U.S. activities. That's all. You can easily check all this but the close relation between the French and Russian intelligence service and their joint anti-U.S. campaign, which is totally unofficial of course.

Since I worked as an Engineer at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston during the early days of the Apollo and Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) programs, I must believe that what we did wasn't some kind of hoax.

Samples of the moon (rocks) were retrieved. We have put up many satellites, that provided images from space of the earth, and sent spacecraft to explore and photograph other planets including Saturn. It is beyond my comprehsion why people would continue to express doubt.

Use the "search for questions" box. This question has been asked hundreds of times. The people who are pushing this are frauds and liars, and those that believe them are fools.

Buzz Aldrin says to Bart Sibrel, "You're a coward, and a liar and a thief", then punches Sibrel in the face. The court refused to take any action against Aldrin.

OK it should be still because of the lack of wind .. but no.
i do believe they landed on the moon.
it flutters because of how the guys planted it into the ground.
any way what does it matter ... they put people in space nowadays right?
so waht does it matter if they didn't do it back then?

I think there is some pretty strong evidence out there that the first moon landing with Neil Armstrong was staged and never actually happened. There are some videos on youtube about this very thing and they seem to have a lot of proof backing up their claim.

With that said, I think we have since then been to the moon on subsequent Apollo missions.
