Sorry, I think I misunderstood your question.

Are men and women equal in today's society? No.

Women cant join the special forces in the USA, there's one for rights.

As for responsibilities... Hard to think of a definitive example there... I would look to something about having a child though, I'm sure you could find something.

As for if they should be equal, I say no. Men and women are different, it is as simple as that. The problem is though, where to make differences in rights and responsibilities so that things are fair, and as to not take away any opportunities in life.

Men and women are EXACTLY equal in the rights they have. However, I think that equality in terms of responsibility is determined by situation. For example, I think a stay at home father would have different responisbilities then one that works outside the house full time.

If looking at it from Biblical point they were until the Fall of Adam and Eve. Women then became subject to men. But when Jesus came he restored woman to her former position equal with man.

But if we view woman in to days societies, we find often they are still given lower place, or standing, which of course is totally wrong, even though many men would hate me for saying so, so too some women.

But this is the truth: even though in Britain, we like to think that we have it cracked as it were, and all are given exactly equal position in terms of men and women's rights and responsibilities.

No they aren't for numerous different reasons.

Whether its right or wrong, the norm used to be man goes to work and brings home the money, woman stays at home and grafts her preverbials off. For all most people probably don't see it that way, there will still be a lot that do.

It isn't all one sided though, there is a few things where the woman is better off than the man.

Take an unmarried couple with kids. The woman can legally sign for any operation that the kids need. Whereas, the man must go to court to apply for fathers rights to do the same, even if he is the biological parent.

Now whilst I don't see any hospital asking for proof it still seems pointless to me.

Equal rights is a myth, its only equal when its convenient.

For existence ,their co-existence is important. There is no question of measuring equality on the basis of yard sticks. Both are the two sides of the same coin created for each other for love and affection.
Both are sharing duties and responsibilities,
Naturally ,men shares bit more, for what to complained of?

Cindy - don't you worry about being equal, where would a man be without a loving, caring and supporting woman ??

Behind every man is a loving and supporting woman, and without her he is lost, so don't worry - I am talking from experience.

There is no comparison between the two, women can do something which men can never do. Similarly men have their own importance.
