Its your asthma mine does that when its close to the airway getting restricted feels like your lungs are bruised means you may have bronchitis which is the swelling of the bronchial tubes in the lungs go see your doctor soon keep using your meds What Is Bronchitis?

Bronchitis is a respiratory disease in which the mucous membrane in the lungs' bronchial passages becomes inflamed. As the irritated membrane swells and grows thicker, it narrows or shuts off the tiny airways in the lungs, resulting in coughing spells accompanied by thick phlegm and breathlessness. The disease comes in two forms: acute (lasting less than 6 weeks) and chronic (reoccurring frequently for more than two years). In addition, people with asthma also experience an inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes called asthmatic bronchitis.

Acute bronchitis is responsible for the hacking cough and phlegm production that sometimes accompany an upper respiratory infection. In most cases the infection is viral in origin, but sometimes it's caused by bacteria. If you are otherwise in good health, the mucous membrane will return to normal after you've recovered from the initial lung infection, which usually lasts for several days.

Chronic bronchitis is a serious long-term disorder that often requires regular medical treatment.

If you are a smoker and come down with acute bronchitis, it will be much harder for you to recover. Even one puff on a cigarette is enough to cause temporary paralysis of the tiny hair like structures in your lungs, called cilia, that are responsible for brushing out debris, irritants, and excess mucus.

If you continue smoking, you may do sufficient damage to these cilia to prevent them from functioning properly, thus increasing your chances of developing chronic bronchitis. In some heavy smokers, the membrane stays inflamed and the cilia eventually stop functioning altogether. Clogged with mucus, the lungs are then vulnerable to viral and bacterial infections, which over time distort and permanently damage the lungs' airways. This permanent condition is called COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Your doctor can perform a breathing test, called spirometry, to see if you have developed COPD. WebMD has many resources to help you to successfully quit smoking .

Acute bronchitis is very common among both children and adults. The disorder often can be treated effectively without professional medical assistance. However, if you have severe or persistent symptoms or if you cough up blood, you should see your doctor. If you suffer from chronic bronchitis, you are at risk for developing cardiovascular problems as well as more serious lung diseases and infections, so you should be monitored by a doctor.

You should contact your doctor. It could still be asthma, even if it feels different than your normal asthma attacks. Make sure that you take your medication and see if it helps.

Have you been sick recently? With a cold? If you have, you may have a chest infection or pneumonia. If you're coughing a lot, you can get pleurisy.

I have asthma too, and I've had pneumonia and pleurisy before. It can feel heavy and make it hurt when you breathe. I had it really bad during my senior year in high school. My ribs were so swollen that I couldn't zip my prom dress without a ton of help. I hadn't gained any weight at all...just swelling.

Make sure you call your doctor. If it gets so bad that you cannot breathe, and the pain is severe...have someone drive you to a clinic. Avoid the ER if at all possible, but if that's your only option they can probably help you. Here's some basic information about pleurisy.

Pleurisy, also known as pleuritis, is an inflammation of the pleura, the lining of the pleural cavity surrounding the lungs, which can cause painful respiration (also called pleuritic chest pain) and other symptoms. Pleurisy can be generated by a variety of infectious and non-infectious causes. The effects of pleurisy can often be felt long after the condition has gone away.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I'm a nurse and have ASTHMA as well. If you have a heavy feeling on your chest and your rescue inhaler is NOT working you need to go directly to the ER. Tell them you are short of breath and you have a heavy feeling on your chest and they should get you right back. If you have tingling in your arms or fingers call 911 as these are signs of stroke and heart attack EVEN IF YOU ARE YOUNG. This could also be anxiety but that should dissipate with deep breathing not cause it to be worse. PLEASE don't wait until it is worse as EVERY asthma attack can be different NO TWO ARE THE SAME. New triggers can cause new symptoms. PLEASE just go in and call your on call physician to let him or her know you are on the way. Even if you don't have insurance they can NOT deny you and medical bills may go on your credit but it is against the law to look at medical debts when applying for credit. I hope this helps you PLEASE GO NOW!!! 911 if you are tingling ANYWHERE!!!

I'm having a hard time wondering why you're not going to a doctor -- it might be nothing, but why take a chance??

If you are over weight than be cautious of your heart or it could be due to a heavy meal you ate. Any ways try to relax or do some thing to get your mind of it and hopefully you will feel better.

Good luck!

You should call/see a doctor immediately, but in the mean time, try drinking a glass of water. It might make it better.
