Usually a Hard disk is divided in to many sectors for identifying various memory clusters in it. each sectors will have unique address.
Boot sector is first sector in a hard disk. when a pc tries to boot on hard disk it search for boot loader information in boot sector. if more than one OS is used that information also stores here.
