I wonder if it is true that the tyres of the car must be replaced after 4 or 5 years although they are not worn out.
I know that this is an usual recomendation from specialized companies but, at least in spain, I was not able to find any "official" document that state this recomendation. In the manual of my car do not say anything and I was nos able to find anything in car magazines

What do you think?

There is as of yet no standard industry recommendation on tire aging and replacment because there is not yet enough information to create such a standard. Some tire companies and several major vehicle manufacturers recommend replacing tires that are 10 years old or more. A few say 7 years. Most have no specific recommendation. It is a hot topic right now in the industry

I personally have seen more than a few tires fail from age related causes, but 4-5 years is nothing to worry about. My personal recommendation is to consider it at 7 years and I recommend replacement at 10 years.

Hi!

Normally we tend to think of changing tyres only if the tread is worn. However due to climatic conditions, the tyre can become "brittle" as it encounters a couple of hot summers and wet winters. Hence you need to consult your local service station to ge their opinion. TO answer your question - it is sometimes a good idea to replace tyres (if there is a deterioration in the propery of the tyre) even if they are not worn out. The same is true for a lot of rubber components - for instance wiper blades. In India I normally change my wiperblades every year as one hot summer and one wet monsoon normally distorts it.

Do the penny test. If you can see the top of lincoln's head they need replaced. Go look at new tires. And compare them to yours. If spain has a law requiring it then replace them.
