Of course they were.
The evidence is in the fact that the natives immediately used the technological advances brought to them and still do.
Obviously,if they werent glad of it then they wouldnt use it.

Some of the answerers live in liberal left cloud cuckoo land.Their answers are so predicable, blinkered leftist cliches that contradict the obvious.Perhaps,if they feel that the natives have been disadvantaged by whites, then they should leave America and allow the Indians to retake their lands.
Ok so thats not going to happen,so the liberals are hypocrites that like to hear the sound of their own voices but not prepared to put up.

Stone Age? First of all...the indigenous people of the "America's continent" did not pollute the environment, they co-existed with mother nature, they did not drive any animals into extintion, they did not carry syphillis, chickenpox, measles nor Tuberculosis. If it wasn't for "the people" of the new world, you and I along with all of Europe, would not know: Corn, Coffee, Chocolate, potatoes, Mango's, and the number "0" , not to mention mathematical advances and most important we would not have a calendar of 366 days. It took less than 100 yrs. from the time the Europeans to completely wipe out their kind, culture, and language. So, what technology are you talking about?Maybe you should read or watch more history...on other cultures before European settlements. It seems to me that...what the"white man" did was no different than what Hitler tried to do.

I expect the natives that lived in America (who were far from stone age) were over the moon when white men came with their technology and diseases killing them by the millions and forcing them onto reservations so they could steal their land what they brought to America was death and slavery the same thing they brought to millions of other people in the world

What do you think? They became dependent on trading to obtain knives, guns, kettles, and so forth. But there was no avoiding it. Technology makes life so much easier. No one ever really foresees consequences, like the spread of foreign diseases or the effects of distilled liquor on those who had never known it before. To the best of anyone's knowledge, no one ever reverted to the use of stone arrowtips, for example, once firearms were made available.

Sure and the small pox, and other diseases that came with it.
Railroads contributed to the siezure of their lands as well as the destruction of their way of life, modern weapons assured they were the losers in most armed encounters - and the institutions that created modern schools that deprived them of their language and cultuer benefited from distribution of printed matter and books...I think the 2 million plus that died over 2 and a half centuries of genocide give them lots to be grateful for.
White men did so much for them...

no because they were largely exterminated. Btw I don't like the expression "stone age people" . The lived in a medium in which they were happy with their lives. They had their own cohesive spirituality and culture.
