Hi and Happy Thanksgiving...been gone a while with family. I would like to answer this question because I had first hand experience with it. First off, if music can be "soothing", so they say, why can't it be "aggravating", or "upsetting". Music can change a persons mood, and I have experienced first hand how CONTINUALLY listening to certain angry type songs will change a person. My son, at the age of 15, started to change. He used to be very respectful, calm, and just really a nice kid. Well, he started to change, his mouth started getting really smart mouthed and he didn't want to obey the rules in the house any more (this was over a few months of me noticing this). He was just a very hateful person. I had been in touch with the school because I wanted to know how things were going there and they said they noticed an angry difference in him also. The principal, thankfully, gave me the hint of not only searching his stuff for drugs (which there was none), but to just listen to some of the music he was listening to. Big shocker...ICP, songs talked about raping women, slitting throats, disrespecting anyone that wasn't a "juggalo" and very violent acts a 15 year old boy shouldn't be listening to. Well, the fight was on when I removed all his music, but in the long run it was worth it. It took about 2 months of "detox" before my son returned. I never thought music could make that much of an influence until I seen it first hand. Good question.

haha... you could try but i don't think that would be a good legal standing to take as you stand in court after being arrested for being a peeping tom. lmao.
music is unfortunately been blamed for decades when it comes to violence. i mean, look back in history, it was always something. especially in the 80s and 90s. (i was a kid and grew up during the 90s , high school, etc.).
i don't think it's fair to blame it on the music. it sucks but musicians can say/do whatever they want. It's the parents who need to decide what their kids can listen to, and if it is something horrific and their kids have a LOT OF OTHER SOCIAL ANXIETY/DEPRESSIVE disorders, then i think i'd hide their marilyn manson cd's. otherwise, it's up to the parents.

Resentment does NOT go away, if it is not addressed it will just keep growing and cause even more problems. My suggestion is to talk it over with him because it seems like you two really love eachother(which is rare) but are going through a hard time right now. Its best to get it out in the open because once it's out there you won't feel so nervous and on edge. If your afraid to bring it up alone with him get a close friend or counseler to play mediator while you talk it out.

I worked in a teenaged boys detention center for a short time. I remember asking a few of them if they were asked what type of music they liked before or after they were arrested. I never got a straight answer either.

because people have nothing else to blame thier mistakes on. So, they don't want to be the only one going down, and they blame music and video games. Nobody can man-up and say that they did it on their own free will.

Last generation they were blaming teen suicide on Ozzy Osbourne. People want a fixable solution - they can't punish the dead so they go after musicians.

I think music is partly responsible....When I was coming up we had no violent music therefore when we fought it was not with guns...nor did we do "Drivebys" we fought one on one and innocent people were never hurt.....when kids hear guns and violence glorfied by their favorite singer than of course they are going to think that is the way to do it....

Was that you? Why didn't you just use the key under the fake dog doo? If I would have known I would have never let the dogs out. Oh, sorry about the stun gun too.
