I got overpaid on a contract check. I quit two weeks ago. They either added an extra digit or thought I hadn't been paid for my whole time there, which I was. Either way, I got $2000 more than expected. I can be UPSTANDING and send it back. Or, I can deposit, let it sit for a while and wait to see what happens for a bit. lmao

For the fact that you thought enough about it to post it here says a lot about your outstanding character....your conscience won't let you get a good nightsleep without doing the right thing...and the right thing is to send it back. A good name is better that all the money in the world, but I trust you will do the right thing....Send it back. "Nuff said.

Keep it but don't spend it yet. If they contact you about it, pretend you hadn't noticed and then pay it back if requested.

The company I work for has a policy that if they overpay you, they can't make you pay it back. It's not your fault if someone couldn't do their job right, and after all, it's not like you stole it!

If you got it from the government, you need to give it back. No one is better than the US government at recouping funds.

Would you be able to keep it without wishing later that you had done the right thing? Not a tough question for me, it's not yours to keep.

Don't tell. But don't fight it if they realize the mistake and ask for it back.
