Curious from many angles, and it isn't specifically a G&WS question, but here is as good as any other place.

I think mine would be "Don't be afraid, ever."

What would yours be?

Dearest Me:

1) Enjoy your children while they are still with you and stop wishing they would leave home.

2) Hang on just a bit longer, your time with your mom is limited so enjoy her while you can and ignore what you have no control over.

3) You should have moved away twenty years sooner, but better now than never!

4) Believe in yourself, you’re going to be fine.

5) On 10/2002 do not answer the phone and do not go in on your day off… it will change your life forever and close a door you did not want closed.

Sincerely yours,

Me

Mine would be "Hang on for a rough ride!"

EDIT: Actually on second thoughts I wouldn't, as life was tough enough already and I might have given up.

What I would say is: Plant your pot-plants in the ground.

(I was unsure of how long I'd stay where I am, and the plants ended up putting down roots through the holes in the pots and now I can't remove the pots.) (I ended up "putting down roots" too!)

Buy 10 apartments in Bucharest at $1000 each then and wait 5 years then sell them at $60,000 each.

If you cannot afford to pay for it with cash, you sure as heck will not afford it with interest and possible late fees attached. There is very little you actually need and in ten years from now you will be trying to unload a house full of stuff with endless yard sales and trips to donate it all.

"send yourself a message in a bottle in 10 years"

Play hard to get! Men use you and then throw you away, because you make yourself completely available, and that's not appealing! Oh, and drop out of college before you ruin your GPA; you'll go back later, but it's hard to get that GPA back up.

I'd probably write...

"Don't send yourself a message in ten years time, you will just give yourself a headache trying to decide what to write."
