I am successful software engineer since past 7 years. My life in college and as an engineer was pretty uneventful. I used to be a popular girl in school and I did not even try for that. I am wondering where things went wrong. Few people did mention to me that I have a X-factor/good personality/smartness so suddenly I desire to be popular again. Can I change myself now? Is it even possible? If I want to be famous again can I achieve that? Somehow I feel that I am doing wrong thinking of popularity. Help!

I think things people are responsible of are dependent on the age range.
There are regular things that teens do, 20s do and 30s do, and so forth. I am not trying to generalize them into collective lifestyle but I believe it's how one's life develops and matures step by step as one gets older.
It is a good thing that you used to be popular in school years and that you are pretty satisfied with your career path.
Although I am not quite sure if I am understanding your concern correctly, I think it will be better if you now turn towards what ordinary people prefer doing in late 20s.
Definitely, you still can try and it can't be better only if you can find pleasure trying things that you used to do when you were younger. But, if I were you, I'd follow the life path and try to find out delight and accomplishments in the improvement of my life within different age model.

The popularity depends on how successful you are among the people around you. College age is different..immature..not sure about future..success etc. we live in a dream world. Now you are among the grown ups, they know what is success..if you are really want to become popular, it doesn't depend on age..your will..+ effort. Try to be best in the your field..wish you would be popular again..

If your answer to the question,"popularity for what purpose or end" can be acceptable to you,go ahead. The soft ware for it is still within you and can be brushed up with a bit of updating. We can modify, amend, alter, change or even restructure ourselves when ever we really want to,and late twenties are just the beginning of a mature kind of life.Go ahead and make a rightful social standing for yourself and succeed you WILL.All the best.
